I'll be honest here. I've supported Chelsea for long enough to be wearily familiar with that gut-wrenching feeling that has accompanied our inevitable fall after a good spell.
This time it feels different.
I'm daring to believe that, for the first time in my life, we can finish as League Champions (and who knows what else?). While watching my oldest son playing rugby this morning I found myself discussing the prospect of a massive West End celebration with another Chelsea-supporting father. Keen supporters of other teams (...not Arse or ManU though) are starting to tell me that they believe that we can go the distance.
Well my friends, these are truely exciting times for those of us of the blue persuasion. We're 10 points clear with only 15 games to go, looking really good and I am loving every minute of this season!

I kinda hate threads like this. Relax. There will be plenty of time to celebrate when the business is done. No need to shoot our loads early.

They making us play an extra game or what mate ;)
Yeah, i know what you mean, it's not like it's unheard of for Chels to muck up a good thing. One only has to look at last season when we could have won it, or back in '99 when we should have won it!
I'll tell you why i'm a little more optimistic this time around.
That feeling of 'ah, we're gonna throw this away' when leading by a goal with little time remaining, is now quite firmly gone!
Not the same old Chels anymore :p

Thanks for that Clan - that's how I feel about this too.
It's funny though. For people like us Spring 2005 is going to seem to last a long time this year...

don't give him any ideas... j/k... I do wonder how CFC will react to a physical game on our part... with Heinze, Keane, Smith and Fletcher almost certain to play... one thing is for sure... there will be a lot of people on the carpet and Robben will actually have a good reason this time (I know I know... live in a glass house and I'm throwing stones, but hey... u are too far ahead to clout so I have to throw).

Outphysical us? I don't know about that one. Makelele, Drogba and Terry aren't exactly "finesse" players.

Yeah, but what if Keane really tries to break someone's leg, like Robben's or Lampards? Anything could happen and who knows what SAF is up to? I hope he won't lower himself to make his players hurt ours on purpose. I hope it will be a more or less a clean game.

but still not quite Keane, Heinze and Smithers.. did u see that match where smith had a bloody head and was dying to get back on the pitch? Heinze's set a record for 2 footed tackles in half a season and Keane is Keane... you guys are tough but we're tougher and we have less question marks than you do in terms of players who would shy away from contact... Ronaldo is one but everybody else pretty much mixes it up.
Ok... not going to get into an argument... on second thought maybe your guys are as tough as our, but it wont be about that... on the day it will come down to execution and finishing, however if one team gets riled up due to physical play it could throw off their execution.

Your'e fooling yourself if you think we're a soft team. We may not have Keane, but Frank's not exactly shy about challenges, and neither are players like Jarosik, Geremi, etc. I don't think you're going to scare us like you did Arsenal.
I think it'll be a good game, and if we get one goal, I think we'll win the tie.

no maybe about it sunshine. now let me remind you that IF it did come to fisticuffs you haven't got a prayer, you don't have a player like John Terry period. There is not a player on your team that would win a fight with our bouncer bashing Mr.Terry. Yet again your lads would be the ones wearing blood :D
Of course your team will try to make it scrappy as it is your only chance of winning against a fluent footballing team

I don't know why would anyone be nervous. I am confident. Chelsea are the new champions.
For the first time ever in history. EPL has been won in January.
That is what Mourinho brings to EPL. They mocked him early in the season, that he comes from an inferior league and this is his response.
February 1st. Arsenal play ManU. It is either both of them dropping two points or one them dropping 3 points. If they draw, which is more likely and we beat Blackburn on the 2nd, they will be 12 and 13 points behind us. That is four losses for us in 14 games just for them to break even.
Chelsea - Blackburn. A must win for Chelsea and it is all over.

Whilst i'm certainly not nervous, it's anything but a foregone conclusion that we're the new champions. And, yes, you can rightly come back to me in May, with a very big 'i told you so' if you like.
It is looking good for us, we're playing strong and can mix it up with any of them.
But, there's a lot of games to come yet Zani, and those injuries we had over the holidays couldn't have happened at a better time as we had only the league to put a team out for.
It has not been won in January anymore than Arsenal had it won by the middle of October!
Mourinho has done good, but he's won nothing for us yet.
Good shout on the weekend of the Arsenal/Man U game though.

Arsenal were not ahead 10 points in October. Since November they were trying to recover five points which are now 10, and very likely to be 12 or 13 next week.
What gives me more confidence is even Fergie is not talking about Chelsea having a blip anymore. Now he says "In order for us to win the title, Chelsea must start slipping now". How silly is that. What an obvious statement?
Worst scenerio I could imagine is one loss and 4 draws like we did in the first round. That is losing 11 points. Still advantage Chelsea will be Arsenal and United are not likely to win the rest of their games. If we draw against them, that goes against them and if we kick their collective asses, I am speechless.
