5 feet 6 inches is he now? I always thought he was 5ft 9”. The lad keeps getting smaller and smaller. <o =""></o>

You know what, I was going to start a thread about him today. He is one of the best players in the league and you never hear anything about him. He is one of my favorite players but never gets the accolades or respect that he should. He is one of the top 10 players in the EPL easily. We are so lucky to have him. I love Claude Makelele.

I'd like to say something witty, but i'm not clever enough.

been a fan of makelele for many years. he wins a lot of head balls for his height. he really controls the pace of the game by breaking up plays and by playing upfield with accurate long passes when he has to. He constantly gets open to be the "safe" option in the offense for the other players on the team. We are lucky to have him (and Lumpy).

I saw Claude at the Sanderson, last time i was i London. I think he was living there after his move from Real. He was having dinner with his agent right next to me, and one of my buddys, a Real fan, had a chat with both of them. He was a really good guy, as my friend was wasted and pretty much out of order. Makelele is short though, 5'6" is pretty accurate, and he was smoking cigarettes too.

he is such a great player but he plays in a position where he is like one of the best, if not the best in the world but no one will remember him. unfortunately people usually only remeber goal scorers

I really think he's our Vieira. He's so quality. I think he's easily one of the ten best players in the EPL. Unfortunately I think he's only got a year or two left for us. He's already 31 or 32 now.
(Happy Australia Day!)

I once said Makelele is like salt. You only miss is it when it is in the food. Since he left Real. Real have never been the same. They have won nothing and are not likely to do that anytime soon.

It goes without saying that he breaks up the oppositions attacks, but what really impresses me is how he makes life so easy for his team mates when we are in possession, he moved to them and always gives an easy option for the pass helping us keep possession.
I was amazed the first game I saw him play live at how small he was. The way he plays I though he was the size of Viera.

Makelele also has what I consider the best nickname, "The Ebony Tripod."

I'm glad to see that others are appreciating what Makelele brings to this team. Ever since he settled here I've considered him one of the three most important players we have, along with Terry and Lampard. Not to say others, especially Robben, aren't huge reasons for our success. Only that those three are who I see as indespensible members of the squad.
