I think that we are waiting to see what happens with Gilberto before we make a move. We also have Flamini and Cesc to rotate if Gilberto gets back into the line up and stays healthy. But I am sure that Arsene has some ideas of players he'd like to pick up.... a famous saying on this board-Arsene knows!

Thing is there is no time to wait... Gilberto will most likely be out for some time.. and the transfer will close shortly.. and since edu will likely not be commiting himself to arsenal, wenger is going to be forced to sell him and pick up a replacement in teh window...

so Whjo is it going to be? Who are the likely options?

Well he knew something when he tried to sign Angulo just before the season. He could have been just the extra depth we need right now.

Read this on a couple of different sites. Wenger figures that Edu will leave, and it sounds like he wants someone experienced to replace him. No names yet, though.

He is an option, but would the board be prepared to fork out for his wages?

I thought I remember in the summer we were looking at Maniche. Don't know if this is a good idea, but its possible hes in the back of Wenger's mind.

Lauren. Now that he's signed, he can play the Parlour role and play anywhere (right mid, central mid, right back) and Hoyte can play in the back.

Do you think Wenger would do a swap w/ Valencia?

Fiore's not happy there, I think.

Edgar Davids

i doubt that this would happen... he'd have no reason to join you and if he's not in Italy one would expect him to rejoin Barca...

Fiore is more of an attacking player. Is that what you need?

van Bommel and Maniche would fit the description of Edu's replacement.

Personally, I would like Wenger to stick with teh current squad and just be patient until Gilberto comes back.Cesc has been MARVELOUS and the other Flamini, has been a workhorse. They hav deputized brillantly when either Vieira or Gilberto wasnt there, and when they were BOTH out (chelsea game @highbury).

When my team loses 4-1 at home to our bitter rivals, thanks to an idiot manager who fielded the most incompetent line-up ever, all of my wit goes out the window. :D
