View Full Version : Reputation Points?

Sorry for asking this but do Reputation points (?) actually mean anything or is it just a way for other fans to whine to you about a response that you made? I made a heartfelt post to why I hate Chelski so much and I recieved about 10 responses from Chelsea fans calling me a "troll" or a "stupid yank" simply because they did not appreciate my response. Now I know it's their right to do this, but will this actually effect me?

Affect you? Not really. But if you get too many negative reps, you'll get a red nipple next to your post count rather than a green one. See this guy (http://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/member.php?u=52694) for an example.
btw, I hit ya up with some positive rep to make up for the Chelsea fans. I wouldn't worry about the whining so much. I usuallly give rep to those who make me laugh.

They don't mean anything if you don't want them to mean anything. It is a royal pain in the neck getting negative repped for posting your opinions, but let's face it, why would you want to get in a discussion with Chelsea fans on their own boards about why you hate Chelsea?
Rep points are a cross between answering back in the thread and going the PM route.
I was kind of happy when I got my second green dot, and I know that if I lost a dot due to negative repping I'd be pissed. I've thought about the rep system a bit (this is the only board I've frequented that uses it) and I've come to the conclusion that for many of us, it makes us think a bit about what we post, before we post it. And that is a good thing.
If you want to talk about why you hate Chelsea, come here and post your thoughts on this board or post a "Chelsea -- Everyone hates you" thread on English rivalries. Just give them the courtesy to stay off their boards. We hate it when they come over here and spout off.

In my experience, I think red nipples are better. Really green nipples? No thank you.

See, I'm not that interested. I have seen maybe 20 posts of his and they've all been pretty bland.

People will neg rep you if you're a troll or annoying. I don't think I neg-repped you, but what kind of a reception do you really expect on the Chelsea boards saying pejorative things about our club? When was the last time you walked into Veterans stadium wearing a Redskins shirt yelling how McNabb sucks and not walked out with some of your own blood on your jersey?
I don't think I've been negrepped by people on other team's boards much, mostly because I at least try to remain somewhat polite. I said somewhat! Although now that I posted this, I'm sure this "problem" will be taken care of for me. Just remember who serves as the KC executioner folks.

And if he is suggesting that you are not a jewel in the rough than that means that I am not one either? I don't think I appreciate his insinuation....... ;)

If I express my opinions in another forum that is not the one I expressly support, I will expect to recieve angry responses back. But to send me a message telling me I'm a "stupid yank" doesn't exactly scream of class. I simply stated my position on Chelsea and I expected to piss off a few fans, but give me a break. For example, I went into a ManUtd forum and gave them hell about drawing Exeter City, and I fully accept the numerous "TROLLS" I recieved that day. But to call me a "TROLL" for my genuine opinion is uncalled for.
But I guess when anyone makes another person angry on this website, they'll have "TROLL" rained down on them.
Motterman--Thank you for classy response, I expected it from a fan of such a storied club.

My genuine opinion is that A.S. Roma are a shite team full of shite players, the worst of whom being genuine primadonna shemales like Totti and Cassano.
Genuine.
If I posted that on the Roma boards, I'd be a troll. Just because you're honest doesn't mean you're not offensive.
This was part of your post on our boards:
Any trophy that you win under Abramovich will come with no respect. None at all. The desperation at which Roman wants a cup is rediculous.
As genuine as that is, its classic trolling.
P.S. phishy is also a Roma fan. Res ipsa loquitur.
