I hope he joins up with Talib Kweli again, he works best when he's with Black Star.

And I agree, he's a very talented emcee. I have his Black on Both Sides album and it's always near the top of my list.

The word is that Blackstar Galactica is held up by the label.

The one they performed on the first season of Chappelle's Show, "What Is Beef" absolutely kills.

I got it when it first came out, didn't like it, but assumed I would later (like I normally do). Somehow, I just never got around to putting it back on. And you know what??...I still don't really feel like it.

--I've heard that he may actually be releasing a new new album sometime this summer.

New Danger isn't all that strong - his main push seems to be "Hey look - black people can make mediocre rap/rock just like white people."

To paraphrase a pretty dead-on line from Pitchfork, "For someone who famously said, 'I don't be trying to ******** with Limp Bizkit,' this album definitely has some Fred Durst tendencies."

Ghetto Rock and Sex, Love and Money are the standouts, along with Close Edge and Sunshine. Get those from ITunes and be done with it.

It's creative and ambitious...it just doesn't work too well.....maybe if there weren't already a slew of white rock/rap lame-o's it might've worked. Like if this record came out 10 yrs ago, it'd be like ...hmm, check this shlt out.
I hope he gets back to some hip hop cuz he's brilliant at that.

i think these are the kind of answers i was hoping to find
not that i didnt want to like the records, its just that the silence surrounding it was odd

Part of the problem with my take on this album is that the same day I got it I also got the new De La Soul CD and Handsome Boy Modeling School's "white people"...maybe because both of those were so damn good Mos Def went straight to the back burner without really giving it a chance or getting into it.....which is a disappointment in itself, because I wanted it to blow me away like everything else he's done. I'll still take Mos Def playing rock, blues, polka, country, nursery rymes, ANYTHING, than have to listen to the latest manufactured ignorant "hip hop" pumped out on the radio.
