Gunners duo pen new deals

Arsene Wenger has confirmed that both Sol Campbell and Lauren have signed new deals with Arsenal.

The Gunners have a number of players with contracts that expire at the end of the season, with defender Campbell being their main concern.

Campbell has, however, previously said that he wanted to remain at Highbury and was close to agreeing a new deal.

Lauren has been linked with a move back to Spain, with both Real Madrid and Barcelona reportedly interested in the Cameroon stopper.

The former Mallorca man was unhappy with the club for only proposing a one-year extension, but a longer contract offer has seen him sign on the dotted line.

Wenger now says that both men have signed new contracts with the Premiership champions.

Lauren has penned a fresh two-year contract, while Campbell has reportedly penned a deal for at least the next two seasons.

The news will be a boost to Wenger, who is currently facing the prospect of Brazilian midfielder Edu leaving the club.

Edu is also out of contract in the summer but he has so far refused to sign a new deal and could be on the move to Valencia.

Good news as I was getting a bit nervy, especially over Campbell given his previous history.

Surf,

I'd rep you from sheer excitement but...I've given you too much already it seems.

I never thought I'd give credit to a Texan.

I saw your thread about the game in Miami...awful. I was sick for a few days, and then the game itself...

As a report I try to remain objective but I've known so many of those guys since they were 17-18...it's tough to watch them get beat on like that.

Just bugs me because the score wasn't indicative of the two teams. USC may have been better, but the 36 points better? Hardly.

Finally! I'm thrilled about Sol, but Lauren is just ok, in my book.

Good stuff. F all those Spurs fans who just hoped we'd get screwed like they did.

Good to hear!

Its all about the team though Cat. A lot of our squad were nobodies a few years back, and while some of them certainly are not the best at their position, they play well together. The flair that was evident in the 2002 double season was as much about teamwork and the trust that goes with it as much as ability, IMHO.

Chelsea won bugger all last year because they were a mob of high skilled individuals. A year down the line they are used to playing as a team and the results are obvious
