Ken Bates says: ‘I am delighted to be stepping up to the mantel at such a fantastic club. I recognise that Leeds United is a great club that has fallen on hard times. We have a lot of hard work ahead of us to get the club back to where it belongs in the Premiership and with the helps the fans, who have stuck by the club through thick and thin, we are going to do everything in our power to ensure that happens.
‘Our first task will be to put short, medium and long term plans in place to secure the financial future of the club and these will include buying back, in due course, Elland Road and Thorp Arch. We will also be looking at ways in which the fans can control the football pitch itself. Fans could then ensure that no would be property developer will be able to end the playing of football at Elland Road.
Good news!

Good news for you and hopefully we see Leeds back in EPL someday. Maybe this is the day that changed things around.
Btw, all the supporters that sticked to their club even in these difficult times, can be proud of themselves. There are enough "fans" out there who just jump on another bandwaggon. Thumbs up to you guys!

Righty right. ;-)
Maybe a bit to disrespectful towards fans abroad. Still my admiration to guys like Dyvel and Captain Splarg.

Back to the discussion on the takeover. I'm excited, but this whole thing stills smells fishy. Bates' takeover bid was denied and then completed with astonishing quickness. I still feel like there was more to the story with Sainsbury and what happened to the other guy? This has just been a shady group with Krasner. I hope for the best with Bates. I don't really understand how they can call a Chelsea guy "Leeds through and through" or whatever they are saying.
Oh and KEEP KEVIN BLACKWELL AS MANAGER!

Shame we couldn't hold onto carson... but I guess this came a day too late...
no worries though... think with the boys coming back from injury maybe we might make a second half run...

Apparently we got a young keeper in return from Liverpool and he's on the bench today.

Therein lies the irony of Bates 'saving' Leeds United. Without a Russian White Knight, Chelsea would have folded before the Leeds crisis really hit the headlines. Leeds lived the dream and inherited the nightmare — Bates lived the dream and hit the jackpot.
Good write-up from Bobby McMahon.
