The new home shirt has been released and reverts back to the colour we wore in 1913 when we moved to Highbury. The colour has been described as redcurrant or claret depending which paper you read.
We have also done away with the white sleeves. It is purely a commemorative shirt. I'm sure someone will be able to access a link to site with the examples.

You can't see the front, but at least it gives you an idea of the colour:

True, its here Arsenal.com- New Kit (http://www.arsenal.com/article.asp?article=251054&lid=NewsHeadline&sub=The+commemorative+kit+for+Highbury%27s+farewell&navlid=&sublid=&Title=The+commemorative+kit+for+Highbury%27s+farewell)
And it looks horrible. :(
I think it might be the exact kit from 1913, and it could possibly be made out of wool.

looks old skool
i sooooo hope it has buttons on the front and a pocket
like the ones in that Brazil Vs France game a few months back
and those long shorts
that would be so cool

While it might be styled like the kit from 1913, I doubt that it will be made from the same materials.

And other than the fact that it's not Arsenal's now traditional red with white sleeves, I don't see how someone could conclude from that view that it looks horrible.

Maybe a stupid question, but will the jersey sponsor be on the old-style jersey?

Fly Emirates will coincide with the new Stadium, so it will be O2....

I don't care what they wore in 1920 blip! All my life, I've followed a team with Red and White shirts. Screw sentimentality, I don't want The Gunners turning out in a colour more associated with West Ham, Aston Villa and Burnley et al; any more than I wanted them to wear all blue away this year!
The only way I'll buy this shirt is from a bargain bin in 2007!!! I think I'm officially entering my Curmudgeon years, because I feel like buying a Gooner retro from Toffs and sticking with that from now on?

I told you that maroon was the colour. You disagreed. Believe me when I say that our yellow away strip looks a lot like Inter Milan's.

Hmm, IMO would have been much cooler without a sponsor. Methinks it'll look strange to have an old-timey jersey with a sponsor, but we'll see. This is obviously just a sneak peek.

Yes I did. I couldnt imagine us reverting to a 100 year old kit design, but I salute you. You were first in with that news :)

We might get lucky, but I wouldn't have thought so. If O2 is contracted till the end of next season they would want paying off to let it go, and Im not sure Arsenal has that kind of money to throw around...

Exactly my thoughts. But as said, of course O2 has paid good money so it will happen...

I also stated on a previous thread that the kit was a retro shirt in to match our early years at Highbury. This info was relayed to me at the start of the season.
From what you can see of it, I like it. No "go fast stripes etc." It's good to see the club can still appreciate tradition.

I can't see them putting a sponsor on a retro shirt, seems to defeat the purpose of one, doesn't it? Unless it was a retro sponsor. King's Herald Cigars anyone?

Told you guys last week in a thread that this was the color, even the people in the Gunner's Shop knew. Its really not that bad, though I doubt it'll be long sleeved.
And really, I mean, if you can support a team for 30+ years or however, why not support the whole history, including a color kit you might not like?

well said. while our red/white strip is incredible, the history at highbury is even more so and needs to be commemorated in some way. i'm buying this shirt. it would be nice if like on the mockup posted some time ago there would be some vestige of our older badges as well.

If you read the article on the club website, it does say that the shirt will be one of several things commemorating the club's time at Highbury. It doesn't go into specifics, but it seems like its going to be a season-long party (hopefully capped with a League Championship, FA Cup, and a nice parade, I won't bother mentioning the Holy Grail).
For those people who are American football fans, it seems like they're doing what the Steelers did before they left 3 Rivers for Ketchup Stadium.
