If nothing else, John was a good person to take questions from fans and you always got the honest answer... :)

I always thought John Trask was good.

If he was chosen to go to college and have a shot at all those lucious wenches....god bless him...

... to go to college and have a shot at all those lucious wenches.......At the Univerity of Illinois?? Corn fed wenches is more like it. Of course the way he drinks, they'll still look good ;)

Good luck John making UI a defensive powerhouse.

UIC, actually, not U of I. Champaign/Urbana doesn't have a soccer team.

Sure they do (or at least did), it's just at club level.

:)

The University of Texas club team beat them in the final of the NCSA National Championship in 1990. 6-5 in PKs.

The UIC site story:

According to their website, they were 5-12-2 last season (3-3-1 in their league) and their coach resigned after a 15-year stint there, including a "Sweet 16" College Cup appearance and #21 ranking in 2000.

I was actually at UIC earlier this month. I have no idea where their fields are but it definitely struck me as a commuter school kind of campus and one with not a very big alumni base. But their basketball team is pretty good, in the same league with Butler (the Horizon League). They get a decent amount of attention from the Chicago papers, too. So if Trask can get some good local kids, they could be a good team in a decently short amount of time.

Hopefully for Trask they don't have a no smoking policy at the practice center.

I wonder why Traskmaster chose to go collegiate? His style always struck me as being more of a pro coach than wimpy ;) students. I don't recall hearing his name in the Chivas, RealSL, Colorado sweepstakes, so maybe that had something to do with it. Of course, it could always be the age-old $$ or nearer to family motives.

Much success, John!
