Oh really? That should be interesting...especially if this whole USSF vs. players union doesn't get resolved before. If they won imagine how crazy Rob Stone would get!

I want to hear Eric Wynalda call the match so he can literally make the T & T players sound like Liverpool from the 60's and 70s

Ok, I am a Trinidadian, and I will be real. We are not in the class of the States, even if the US bring lesser players to Port Of Spain, chances are we will lose. Having said that, Men from the Caribbean, at times, play with a pride that exceeds the boundaries of their talents. Not with reckless abandon, but with spiritual team play, found in the blood of our ancestory, giving us a WILL to win for our people across the West Indies. This was so evidently displayed as the West Indies captured the ICC Tournament in cricket late last year, even though the odds were stacked highly against us. Hurricane Ivan that devastated Grenada brought the whole region together and our National Team came together as one unit, inspirationally giving rise to a tremeandous day of pride to all who belong to the Caribbean. For one day we could forget our troubles that the Hurricane caused, and through adversity our true strength was shown.
Now, obviously, this is a totally different sport. But for those who are not familiar with the region, let me tell you that TRINIDAD CARNIVAL, dubbed "The Greatest Show on Earth", ends the day before the USA encounter. Throughout Carnival Season we remember our roots and our slaves that were foced to work in the Sugar Cane Plantations, and instead of being succumb by sadness, we choose to manifest happy thoughts, and show strength instead of weakness. We express our Freedom, and love for our fellow brother, like no one else can. The energy of Carnival, and its loving spirit will be brought to the ground by the players and the spectators alike. Listen to our music, see the faces of the people in the stands, hear the chants of our ancestors in the distance, Look in the eyes of our players as they represent this beautiful Nation, notice it is a special occasion, and brace yourselves for a spirited contest, all the while being thankful that you are playing a country with only 1.3 million people, not wishing to imagine how good we'd be if we had 290 million as in your country.
We are the only Caricom nation left in the competition, and the region and the players of Trinidad & Tobago are fully aware of this fact.
Yes, the USA should win, but step light so as not to wake this emotionally charged island.

I'll go with that--I'm thinking of the fight Grenada put up in the second leg of the preliminary round. Most of their team were working men who played for extra change on the weekends. They earned my respect, big-time.

Technically we can still make it even if we come in 4th. :)

Nah, if we had brought the scrubs you'd guys would have been odds on to win. Avery John is hardly one of your best players and he's likely better than any of the scrubs we would have been forced to bring. It wasn't a 'b' team the US was going to bring (he plays in a better league than they do), it was a 'z' team.
But it appears that's over now.
You guys could certainly manage a draw and even an outside shot of winning if we don't come to play like we sometimes do in road matches (Panama should have beaten us). I think you'll need at least a goal to get the draw though and more to get a win.
This is a prime chance for T&T to take their crack at qualifying for the Big Show. Tougher clubs like Canada, Honduras and Jamaica are all out, and for the 1st time 4th place gets you a home and away playoff against an Asian team not likely to be significantly stronger than you guys.
I hope we win on the 9th, but after that the best of luck to you guys.

Arena can't. If we do finish fourth, he won't be around for the playoff.

We'll get a better sense on where we stand by the end of March. Too bad we missed out on some warm-up games. I hope our boys won't come in cold.
