I felt that since the Southampton board had their thread up we had to compete with them.
I think that since we need the win we will pull out all the stops.
-----------Dudek :( ---------
-Finnan--Carragher--Hyppia--Warnock (can't see Traore anywhere near the pitch)
-Nunez---Gerrard----Riise
--------Garcia---------
---Moro-------Baros
It seems as if we just got done eking out a win over the Saints.

Don't be so down! I think we'll win this one in a dominant fashion! This is exactly what we need right now, a nice thrashing of saints to get the blood pumping again!!!

Very harsh on Traore, he's been good at left back for us over the past 3 weeks and should be left there. If you want to have a go at someone, how about Dudek?
What's Paul Harrison like as a keeper? Anyone seem him play and if so, is he any good?

It's not that I'm being harsh on Traore, far from it (see my post in the Burnley thread). It's just that I don't think he'll have the composure to come back out four days later and put on a good showing. He's a class player and I want him putting the red back on, it's just that he had a rough go and needs some time to get back to full mental fitness.

Nunez won't be around for three games -- straight red today --- he did raise his hand but it was a complete three course meal made by the Burnley player.

We are playing at St Mary's, so the thread title should read Southampton vs. Liverpool.
The Saints are getting desperate so they should be pushing for 3 points. If they go for it, we will benefit as we have trouble when teams bunker down and play for 0-0.
---------------Dudek
Finnan--Carragher--Hyppia--Traore
Garcia--Gerrard--Hamann--Riise
---------Morientes--Baros
Bench: Harrison, Pongolle, Warnock, Pellegrino, Biscan
Once again we will have no width in the squad, but we have no other options. Morientes needs to get his first goal for the club.

Too bad about Nunez. Certainly did not deserve a red for that, the other guy kicked him while he was getting up and then made quite a performance when Nunez got his elbow up. Anyways, I think Nunez is getting better, his crosses are really becoming dangerous. He had one in particular yesterday that he crossed with very little space that was quite good.

It is too bad that Nunez is out for three matches-- I should have liked to see Morientes at the end some of his crosses.

Anytime you raise an elbow in frustration your going to be sent off, wheather the opponent takes a flop or not. Nunez only has himself to blame. He let his frustration get the better of him.

What do you guys think about Pellegrinos coments
"He (Rafa) told me he'd like me to captain the team at some point, just as I did when we were together at Valencia. He trusts me and I am determined to make sure he gets the best out of me."
Unless Gerrard,Hyypia and carragher are all out ,theres no way pellegrino should captian the side! And i think pellegrino didnt come here to play as a back-up,but he actualy came here to play regularly!I dont realy like the idea of him playing week in and week out,he and hyyypia are just to slow to form a good central pairing!I want carragher back at CB!

I completely agree on the formation, although I have a feeling Finnan will not be in the starting XI, and Carragher will be RB with Pelligrino partnering Hyypia in the middle. I would much rather keep our back four the way it was, Finnan was playing extremely well this season.

Sometimes it swings the other way; he may feel he has something to prove.

Traore, one of most improved players this season. I become more and more impressed with him in every match. His long legged tackles, his anticipation and his overlapping attacking play is outstanding.
The first half of the Burnley match he was our best "attacking" player and with support we would have been ahead.
Unfortunately, the one mistake he made was right in front of the goal. I can see what he was trying to do but it wasn't a good choice even under the best of conditions.
"Quite a few" of our players were a lot worse than him all through the match. Perhaps if they would have stepped their game up the Djimmy wouldn't have been in that position to make that mistake. Igor was awful, and kept passing off to Burnley players. One of our young attackers wanted to score whenever and wherever he got the ball.
Possibly two of our better players on the day got the shaft for one mistake each resulting in a goal and a red card.
Now Southamton, I don't want to be obvious and say we have to win. Oh, alright we Have to win! They're playing some better games lately, I just don't want "Super Kev" to score against us...or anyone else on the team for that matter.
Cum on lads, Pull yer bloody socks oop...!!!

Pellegrino hasn't earned the right to captain the side. By the time he does he will be 36 or 37. I put Carragher ahead of him and even Alonso.
I hate the way all of these Spanish league signings are almost guaranteed spots in our squad. They have to earn them and it starts by showing pride in wearing the Red shirt everytime you take the pitch.

If Pellegrino begins to play on the side reguarly in a formation like the one we had Saturday I'm going to be mad. Our back four was easily the bedrock of our team when Finnan played on the right and Traore on the left. Carragher and Hyppia complement each other really well with Carragher's speed and marking ability and Hyppia's skill at winning tackles and heading. Now we have two oxes playing in the center while Carragher is stuck out on the right. He has no business being over there. I really hope Rafa doesn't give Pellegrino starts over guys like Finnan just because he played for Rafa's former team.

I hope the lads come out with a chip on their shoulder after the defeat against Burnley and the beating we've taken from the local and national media. Interesting stat is that we have a poor record this season with early kick offs.

What he's doing is looking back inside to see who is watching.
