Sorry Rob. This was in response to a request over in the "Official" DC United board.

:D

Your's is a valid opinion though.

unless a former united player is retired, he is dead to me while playing for another team--i.e. the late, great jeff agoos. the only exception is a certain personal friend whose career i've followed since before united was twinkle in payne's eye.

but i do think it is nice to have a location for "alumni news" for those more reasonable than me.
:D

On second thought.. Let's have a nice discussion on what Mike Burke is doing these days. Rumor is that he's busy.

OK, here's a start.

I looked at an all-time DC roster from about 2 years ago and added what I can also remember off the top of my head. This list is only of players who may still be active (but I included a couple that are pretty questionable).

There are two types of players, the first is those who play in different leagues. We can still wish the best for these since, at least, they don't normally play against DC:

Bobby Convey – Reading
Ryan Nelsen – Blackburn
Ronald Cerritos? – I think he made some Salvadoran Nat appearances since being cut, he's probably somewhere in their league now, unless the trading of his rights on draft day actually meant something
Marco Etcheverry? – I believe he's officially retired now but he made at least a few cameo appearances in Bolivia after leaving the team
Mario Gori – still in A-League?
Galin Ivanov!! - if we can find his fan club, we may be able to track him down
Roy Lassiter – was still linked, in some capacity, with Laredo (PDL?) in the past year
Earnie Stewart – VV Venlo
Petter Villegas?? - no one that I know liked this guy, but IIRC he was reportedly looking for a team in Ecuador about a year ago

The other list of players is those who've gone over to the dark side. Not only have they left DC United (or been dumped), but they are playing for other teams in MLS:

Jeff Agoos
Chris Albright
Kevin Ara
Devin Barclay? – still on an MLS roster, it can be hard to tell during the offseason
Ezra Hendrickson
Mark Lisi
Justin Mapp
Jesse Marsh – still playing?, still on Fire's website roster
Thiago Martins
Eddie Pope
Milton Reyes
Tony Sanneh
Carey Talley
Craig Ziadie

I just discovered that 2 seconds ago.

I'll add the names to the master list and we can keep up with what they're doing.

Well Marco is a personal friend and even though he wore Bolivars colors, I don't give a damn what anybody says....He IS DC United. On that note, Marco and Oriente failed to come to contract terms so he's still out there. I think any move Marco makes will be discussed either on the DC board or the Barra subforum.

Erik Immler (retired; agent?)
Damn good carpenter. Lyle Yorks is an agent - actually he's Ryan's agent, IIRC - but I don't know about Imler.

Jeff Causey
Goalkeepers coach at Maryland for a couple of seasons, but not this year.

Scott Garlick (active?)
Active. Was supposed to be Dallas' starter this year, got beaten out by Cassar (who has made a habit of doing such things). With Dallas having acquired Henry Ring, Garlick's days in Tay-has may be numbered. Still, he's too good a keeper to not be on someone's roster - he'll be somewhere in 2005.

Clint Peay (retired)
He had been coaching at Georgetown last I heard, but I don't think he's there anymore.

Roy Wegerle (retired)
Attempting to get his European PGA Tour card as of 2 years ago.

Was it Micah or Judah Cooks that was doing a bit of announcing this year during one or two of DC United's games on Comcast?

My memory escapes me.

Also, I think Ali Curtis finally took a job on Wall Street right?

That would be Judah.
