"""Real Madrid deny Newcastle talks
By European Football - January 17 2005

Reports that Newcastle United were in talks with Real Madrid over a proposed loan move for Michael Owen have been strongly denied by Real Madrid chief Arrigo Sacchi. It was also suggested that Newcastle were preparing an offer for a permanent move in the summer.

But Sacchi dismissed both possibilities, stating that the only contact Real had with Newcastle was over Morientes, before his move to Liverpool.

While it does seem likely that Newcastle are in the market for a striker, to replace the soon to be departing Alan Shearer, it does not seem likely at the moment that the replacement will be Owen, who Real insist is very happy in Madrid."""

What will they think of next...

Zippy, George and Bungle to sign for Man U?
Peter Kay to manage Bolton?
Arsne Wenger discovered to be a 104 year old woman?

Jeez !!

Arsne Wenger discovered to be a 104 year old woman?

Jeez !!

Actually that last bit is meant to be true...

The guy at the garage said that his sister who is married to some guy who works in the post-office has a cousin who once walked by a football stadium when a donkey motioned him over and whispered that he should look under a stone by a nearby oak tree where a fairy godfather popped out and whispered that he knew that Arsn Wenger is in fact a 104 year old woman!!

:D :D :D

See. On Tyneside i have heard we might be in for Owen. Liverpool have got a buyback clause if he doesnt make it with Madrid. Honestly. It would not surprise me in the slightest if we get him. Now i am thinking. Thats why we didnt get Beattie. Owen or Beattie. Lets see. If you understand football as much as i do. You can put 2 and 2 together. But i usually come up with 12. Pffffffffft. But it wouldnt be a shock in my house.

I would be thrilled like, but don't see why he would leave Madrid, or why the club would be willing to let him.

I'll eat my hat if we do get him mind. He will need to buy 15 houses in Darras Hall for his family, like he had built in Scouseland.

All I'm saying is watch your pockets!!

I would be thrilled to get him as well, but I really don't see Real Madrid letting him leave either. Since they sold Morientes, they have only Ronaldo, Raul, Owen, and Portillo. Ronaldo and Raul are obviously the starting strikers, but if either one of them gets injured Owen slides into that spot. Portillo is a good young player, but he has yet to consistently produce. So it is very likely (considering possible injuries and the amount of games Real has to play) that Owen would get a very good amount of playing time in the second half of the season. I just don't see Real Madrid letting him leave when that would leave them with Ronaldo, Raul, and Portillo for half a season.

See. Jimmy Greaves or Ian St John once said. Football is a funny old game. Something along those lines. A game of two halfs and all that crap. Cant remember who said that one. Real can get anybody they want. 10 times better than Owen.

Ps. Its only on David Beckhams recommendation that any of the English squad have signed imo. The Spanish press are going off it. Some of Real's players are kicking off. Stage door to your left Micky Owen.

Nah, they need Owen in Madrid. He'll never start mind you, but since Ronaldo gets hurt about three times a year you need someone else, and the other guy (Portillo) is the biggest joke in Spain. We'll just put Bramble up top and solve two problems at once. Tell him he's defending the other goal so those own goals he's bound to score will start counting for us.

GENIUS !!!

I am stunned by how simple a plan it is !!!

It may just work, a bit like putting the A-Team in a garage full of potatos and lawnmowers before they transform them into a fully armoured vehicle.

"I love it when a plan comes together"
