A few days ago I mentioned that Dwight Yorke was available from Birmingham; today the 'News of the World' reports : "West Ham are to swoop for Dwight Yorke"! I guess they must be reading our boards to keep up with inside information!!!
Incidentally, he's almost 33; but I still think he could help, especially if Teddy S. can still contribute.

Not sure I would place Yorke on the same level as Teddy even at 38. When was the last time he looked remotely dangerous anywhere on the pitch?

I'd like to think he'd do well for us but IMHO it's a bit too much of a gamble, his wages aren't going to be cheap and his match fitness is going to be way off the required standard. If Pardew can secure Mantzios today I believe that would be a much better option.

According to the BBC 'gossip column' now Celtic's Martin O'neill wants Yorke!! I can't help smiling; by the time he goes, half a dozen teams will have been mentioned. I agree that his best days are long gone, but I think he could be effective in our division, not the top flight. Anyway, there hasn't been any official word of any kind from Upton Park about getting anyone; we need help!
