Anyone else like him? I'm watching his live show on Rave (channel 125) on Voom right now. I really dig his "Room For Squares" release. I didn't realize he was so young until I saw him live on tv.

His live performances are really great. Much more bluesy that his pop-ish albums. I loved Room for Squares. Wasn't crazy about Heavier Things. Saw him live a couple of years ago and it was brilliant.

Yeah, this is a good show. And there are a LOT of hotties right in front of the stage. :)
He's doing "Your Body Is A Wonderland" right now. Great song.

Whoa, he just brought Buddy Guy out to the stage to do a guitar solo. In-fricking-credible.
And now they're jamming.
It's pretty obvious why Buddy is a blues legend.

I think I've seen that show. It was a pretty good one. But I'm telling you, if you can stand a bunch of screaming pre-teens, see him in concert. Its worth every penny. He's really a talented guitarist, despite what his label has done to his CDs.

I had no idea how well he could play until I saw this show. His jam with Buddy at the end was incredible.

See, I know its stupid of me and all of that, but whenever I hear the name Buddy Guy I just think of that Lee Dungarees commercial.
"So Buddy Lee was a womanizer?"
"Buddy Lee? Who the hell is Buddy Lee? I thought we were talking 'bout Buddy Guy."
Shows the man the picture
"Oh, the little Jeans Guy! Yeahhhhhhh"

Two of my friends are going to the same music school that he went to until he dropped out and got his record deal. He's got some chops but he's a bit of a dick.

Daughters is the "Your Body is a Wonderland" of his 2nd album, would be a decent song, but it's overplayed and it becomes "that song" for too many girls. YBIAW should be a song that girls don't like, it's basically about turning a girl into a carnalistic sex object. Daughters is a little more thoughtful though.
Mike, are you talking about the Austin City Limits performance when he was on stage w/ Buddy Guy and Double Trouble? He played about five SRV songs w/ Double Trouble that didn't make the broadcast that were fantastic. He and Buddy played a couple of Buddy's as well.
If you guys like Blues then you're going to love his next album. He was on Conan 2 nights ago saying that his next album was going to be full of Blues songs like Come Back to Bed off of Album no. 2 and City Love off of Room for Squares.
And yes, he is a bit of a dick who is becoming quite full of himself lately, but he's better than he was when he was 22-23 and just getting comfortable with the whole "rock star" lifestyle.

Took the words right out of my mouth, man! "Why Georgia" is his only decent song.

I forgot to mention that on his summer tour last year he was covering a Marvin Gaye song, Inner City Blues, that was unbelievable.

That guy is a pretty good musician, but cant seem to have a decent song. His songs are the gayest sh!t Ive heard since Richard Marx.

it cracks me up seeing all the dudes that feel threatened by JM's sensitive lyrics... i mean, how gay is that?
for my money JM rules; he plays a mean guitar, writes excellent tunes and puts on a great show - i have the odd distinction of owning a DVD of the concert i attended (any given thursday, filmed while i was living in birmingham)

Gayer than Richard Simmons on stage with Siegfried and Roy?

Wow. JM plays his sensitive music for hot women, probably gets more and better trim in a month than most of us do in a year, and gets paid well for it all. I'd play violin in a ruffled shirt for them benefits. Meanwhile, you pose behind a username on a soccer website and gripe. Who's got the better gig?
But you're right about Richard Marx- he's the soundtrack of gayness.

I like Mayer. Room for Squares is a very good CD. He was recently interviewed by Howard Stern's man in the street and he came across as very hip and smart. Answered the silly & difficult questions.

Well, my favorite band is Lifehouse, so I don't think I would be qualified as feeling threated by JM's sensitive lyrics. His voice just annoys me and I think his style of writing is weak.
