It must completely go off in 2-3 weeks. By the way, are you sure it's a muscle strain? About a month ago I sprained my knee and I got the same problem when I started practicing again, but I think it was because of the knee ligament which was not able to bear my weight + I didn't practice for 10 days at all. This very ligament must bear almost all your body's weight, but it's a ligament, I don't know what about muscles. Just keep working it out and soon it will be fine.

I have a knee disease that almost keeps me from walking after a hard game or practice. I can't spell it but it really sucks. Anyway, after a couple days when I can go out again my kick isn't affected at all. Now to answer your question. Try to rebuild your leg strength by jogging, and maybe go to a treadmill and use it on a low speed at first. Thats all I can say.

Work on building up your muscle strength again... if that's by working out, running, etc... just work up your muscle strength again and then get out their and start kicking a ball again when you feel comfortable with your leg.
