It's based on performances for the Irish national team and Duff was injured for most of the competitive matches?
No, because they refer to Kilbane's performance at Everton. This is just sheer crap, but it makes me curious to know how he's regarded in Ireland.

The lad that lives across the road from my mum, is dating Duffs sister - or so my mother told me when i called her over Christmas.

bingo :D
duffers is very...very,highly regarded over here,in fact most people consider damien and robbie to be the best players we have at the moment, with damien being the player who most people get excited about when he's on the ball during an international.
to be honest the only reason i can imagine why kilbane got listed over duffers,is the fact that damien has been so consistant over the past few years that it would be unjust to a player like kilbane, who btw has taken major flak in the press in years gone by,for lack luster performances,to not recognise the vast improvement in his game to also acknowledge his apart in evertons fantastic season.
in other words damien is always winning awards and will do for a long time to come,so it's nice to show to others that their accomplishments have'nt gone un-noticed.
were like that as a race you know ;)
bingo :D *snip* were like that as a race you know ;)
You know, I knew there was a reason why I liked the Irish. ;)
So srd.... Duffer's won this award before?

As a Corkman that prefers 'their' football, over football and hurley, aren't you something of an anomaly :D

Thats not all.
I actually babysat him as a very young child.
My parents moved over to Ireland many years ago, my father and his da became very good friends.
I believe his name is Brendan, after his dad.
Very sad story there though, his dad died quite a few years ago in a horrific car accident. He was an Irish policeman (Garda) and coming home from work one night ina bad storm, skidded of the road and hit a fence.A stake from the fence came through the windshield and pierced his heart.
Very sad.

Duff has won this before, maybe in 2003, IIRC. And to echo srd... Zinedine Kilbane's gotten a load of flak but has played quite well for Ireland and Everton recently.

that would be hurling mate :D and nahhh christ sake it's 2005,seriously football has always been very...very popular over here.growing up all the kids would play in the streets pretending to be their favourite player, mostly liverpool and utd fans back then, but again we always like to support teams that have a good history with irish players.
cfcindc on your duffers question,he probably has,he wins stuff over here every year that you wouldnt hear about in the mass media.

yeah i used play it between the ages of ten and sixteen,of course i then realised hanging out with all the *ahem* old dolls, was more satisfying than running around a pitch in cold muddy winter getting smacked as you u.s. types like to call it upside da head by some other bloke with a big stick :D
Edit:good fun though!!!
