Supposedly a call went out today to 50 non-PA MLS players this afternoon for the T&T camp.
Who from your MLS could be part of that list?

what's the time frame for having been in for a camp and therefore being part of the union??
as i would think that paule and possibly jordan have been called into a camp before, making them part of the union

The past four years.
You could form a pretty decent team with those players, although to call 50 players, that's almost all the eligible guys in MLS under that scenario.

As a matter of curiousity, if non-PA members play in the first game, do they automatically become members of the PA? If not, do they ever? The pool of available players could dwindle rather rapidly.

Eligible from the Fire:
Buete
Capano
Clanton
Curtin
Gray
Griffin
Jaqua
Mapp
Pause
Pickens
Ring
I would imagine Curtin and Mapp for sure, possibly Capano, Gray, Jaqua, and Ring. Not sure if youth national team members are eligible, both presently and in the past four years.

Did these players actually get a call or are you just speculating?

He's obviously speculating, stating which players on his team would be eligible - "could be part" of the list, answering the question in the first post.

well if its anything like back in '96, those guys will be ostracized and not be allowed to join the PA i'm sure

see, that's what I was wondering about. Would some of these players (like Chad Marshall, for example) say 'no' to the callup just so they don't jeopordize their futures with the national team?
IIRC, Ramirio Corrales played in the 1996 game and just played in a game this year ... for what's that worth.

Any MLSer should think twice because they will get their fair share of dirty tackles over their whole career. It think Nats and MLSers alike will stand firm in their solidarity.

So it's come to this. Pathetic and sickening.

Like Eddie Lewis?
It's amazing how much being good can make up for a few minor miscalculations.

I count ten and a keeper. There they are folks: U-S-A! U-S-A!
I bet they could pack it in for a goalless draw down there. Couldn't do worse than Richie Williams and co in Costa Rica.

I could've sworn that Curtin got a callup once... Maybe for the Denmark game? I'm not sure...hard to really be enthusiastic right now...
I recall reading an article where Lewis said he asked permission from Eric Wynalda (his teammate at the time) before he accepted that call-up.
Contra Costa Times, 11/5/98:
Lewis suddenly found himself in the middle of the conflict. Invited into camp, Lewis hesitated and sought the advice of San Jose Clash teammate Eric Wynalda, the U.S. all-time leading scorer.
"(Wynalda) told me, 'No, it's a weird situation and not a good idea.' So I declined," Lewis recalled. "I thought I might get blackballed from (MLS). I wasn't in a position to (insult) the older guys waiting for the (salary) bonus."
Lewis later reversed his decision when Wynalda informed him that things had changed and some veterans were going to play after all. But two hours after telling the U.S. Federation he was coming, Lewis learned contract negotiations had broken down and he again tried to retreat.
"Before too long, I'm on the phone with Steve Sampson and he says, 'I really want you to go. You're somebody I want to look at.' "
Lewis obliged, trained with the Yanks for a few days in Florida and headed for Peru. An eventual 4-1 loss to Peru marked the international debut for Lewis, along with six other players.

Curtin has been in a camp (never a roster though).

So by this rationale, Eddie Lewis would not be a member of the Player's Association.

I put this list together in December. It's all the [/b]uncapped MLS players who were on rosters last month.[/b] Teams were current as of that time so it's not updated for any trades.
The PA claims players who have been in camp count towards their association so some of these guys who aren't capped may not be eligible because they've been in camp. ANyone with a complete list of campees, feel free to chime in.
Also, some of the MLS players who've been capped haven't been capped in so long - Washingting, Dayak, Maisonneuve - that they may no longer be part of the PA, I'm just not sure.
Players with an ^ next to their name haven't played an MLS reg. season or playoff game. (I think. I'm doing that from memory because the team stats for 2004 are no longer at MLSnet.com for some reason.)
Anyway, here's the list.

As I said when I posted this before, I don't see to many, if any, MLS players crossing, save for maybe Kenny Arena, who might be risking his allowance if he says no to his Old Man.
