No surprises here.

10. Death Cab for Cutie
9. Morrissey
8. Ashlee Simpson
7. U2
6. Joanna Newsom
5. The Killers
4. Danger Mouse
3. Franz Ferdinand
2. Ted Leo

And if you have access to the internet, you probably already know what #1 is. Still, no love for Modest Mouse or the Bravery?

Is it The Arcade Fire?

(looks)

It is, it IS The Arcade Fire!!! Oooh, what do I win?

This is getting hysterical -- they've probably sold about 20,000 copies of Funeral and have zero commercial radio airplay, and yet there's already a backlash. If they released another album tomorrow it would be hyped somewhere by somebody as their triumphant comeback.

And by the way, any list of over-blogged bands of '04 that doesn't include The Pixies is an incomplete list.

Sheesh, I forgot about the Pixies. I think we can bump Death Cab off - I don't think they were nearly as hyped in 2004 as they were in 2003.

As someone who has been a part of the constant hyping of Arcade Fire, I agree that it's getting kind of crazy. It's to the point that, unless their next album is the musical equivalent of Sgt. Peppers, people will be disappointed by it. Hopefully, the massive hype won't paralyze them creatively.

Where is Ted Cikowski when we need him? ;)

I'm still in the unswayed camp, though.

Early Xymox is far better than the lo-fi crap that people talk about here.

I have a feeling we will singlehandedly overblog Asobi Seksu in 2005.

I think they were refering to DJ Danger Mouse who did The Grey Album mash-up of The Beattles and Jay-Z.

Still cool, as long as he got his name from the cartoon :D.

I don't get the Joanna Newsome love. The sound of her voice makes me want to puncture both of my eardrums. No, wait -- I think the sound of her voice has actually punctured both of my eardrums.
