I don't know if anyone has started this topic yet but I was thinking a much as I love seeing hundreds of American flags at our soccer matches what if we put words on the flags like England, Poland, Scotland, ect... I think it would look great if we could have American flags with supporters clubs, cities, or teams printed on them. What does everyone think?????

It's in the works after our experience in Korea. Stay tuned....

I've been single-handedly trying to fill our stadiums with flags...so far I've got 22, and I have 4 large 5X9's with two of them having my town and state in the red stripes. I'm looking to add more. Sound good?

by the way, I'm 18 and have nothing better to do with my money...just so you don't think i'm married with kids and am blowing my money on flags rather than a mortgage.

I have thought about this A LOT because I've always that was really cool, that national flags at the World Cup and other tourneys had their club teams on there, and it would be great if MLS was represented there (especially after a German guy I ran into in a bar in Seoul thought that the USMNT was a bunch of college and amateur players, but that's another story. This was prior to us playing them off the park in Ulsan, of course.).
But how could you make that work? Our flag is too "busy" to make any writing show up clearly. You can't put it in the blue square because that's too small. You can't put it with the stripes because there's too much going on there to make it show up clearly. The only thing I can think of is have the blue section with all of the stars, but then use the Texas flag style and just have two big stripes of red and white and put writing in one or both of these.

could we have letters cover 2 or 3 stripes with blue so people can read it?

I just think there's too much contrast (red/white/red/white) to make anything show up clearly on tv or across the stadium. Letters on a solid background would work best in my opinion.

Good point. We would need fairly large flags then.

the original stars and bars flag is a good choice for writing something on. However, it's a confederate based flag and some people might not agree with it. Go search it on E-bay or somethin and you'll find it.

You know, gofire, I was gonna start a thread about this very topic in the DC board. I was leafing through the back pages of my fourfourtwo, and saw an add for flag makers, who make HUGE St. Georges crosses with Lettering and text on there. I was thinking how cool it would be, if we could get HUGE US flags with lettering and images. I agree that its too busy, but what if we could get someone to make a flag with the stars on the blue field taken out, and put in your club crest or city name, or whatever in there. Arsenal America's crest is a fine example. I think the DC crest would look great in this flag design, IMO. Sammers should really look into this. What a sight it would be, hundreds of US, state, and city flags draped around our stadiums, *dreamy sigh*.

I have writing on one of my 5X9 flags. Even though alot of people say the flag is too "busy" to write stuff on it, it really doesn't look that bad and it's easy to see from a distance. Just use all caps and some white paint. Primative but it worked.

What's wrong with being married with kids and blowing your money on flags?
