I'm off to take the Praxis II. Wish me luck! (Oh, and I FINALLY got my placement for the high school rotation! I start student teaching in two weeks!!!)

So, how did you do? I found the content part to be very easy. The pedagogy part ... well, since I had no idea what that word meant, thank you, Fayetteville State University, that part was not so easy but I b/sed it enough to pass.

I am sure you did the same.

Results should be in any week now. They said it would be 4 weeks, and I took the test about three weeks ago. The content part was very easy. The pedagogy exam, which Towson did a great job preparing us for, wasn't hard, just difficult to complete within the time constraints. With an extra hour, I could have given much fuller answers. 1 hour just isn't enough time to complete that exam IMO.

Oh, that is just preparing you to think on your feet when you mysteriously misplace your materials and have to wing it for 90 minutes.

We got the scores this week, and this is pretty much exactly how it turned out. The content exam went really well. I got a 199 out of 200 and got some award for excellence. They give it when somebody scores in the top 15% of all test takers over the previous five years (4 of the 23 English Ed majors got the award).

On the flip side, I got a 155 out of 200 on the pedagogy exam, which was the BARE MINIMUM passing score. I wish they would have given actual feedback, because I have no idea how to improve what I did poorly. I received perfect marks for designing content for literature and half marks for responding to student writing. I've always seen writing instruction as a strength, so I really want to know where I should look to improve. Unfortunately, they don't provide individual feedback.

Either way, the Praxis exams are done, passed, and out of the way, and I got a goofy award certificate thing to add to my resume.
