According to SkySports (http://skysports.planetfootball.com/list.asp?hlid=248503&CPID=8&CLID=&lid=2&title=Toon+in+talks+with+Kuffour&channel=Football_Home), Newcastle are working on a deal.
I'll be sorry to see him go, as I thought he was fairly consistent, and probably the most athletic back Bayern fielded.

YOu should post in the thread Who goes.
Personally, i don't want him to leave. Kovac and Linke should go instead so with Lucio, Demi and Kufour in the CB, we are strong at the back.

Then why let Kuffour go, let Linke go instead. Kuffour is a much better player and younger

I think it's a little sad to see him go but I have never really rated him that highly.
For me as a fan, would be keeping him just for personal reasons as he is part of the Bayern family coming up through the amateur ranks and of course witnessing him pound his fists on the field and crying when Bayern lost to ManU in '99.
I wish him the best of luck at Newcastle if the deal pulls through but in all honesty I don't think he will do that well.

yes, It would be great if we have 4 central defenders consisting of Lucio, Demi, Kovac and Huth. It's one of the best in Europe. ;)

I am sorry to see him go as well.
I will always remember the look on his face after the CL final. He never really got his game to the next level , but he will be misssed.

What type of defender is he? What are his strengths/weaknesses?
Do you think he will want to come to Newcastle? We are struggling this season, 14th in the league and we might not be playing in Europe next year. I'm worried a bigger club from Italy might declare their interest but I hope we get him.

demichelis and kovac are crap
they should get metzelder (might be cheap considering borussias problems)

i think hes pretty decent as do most bayern fans...
infact, i think he and lucio should be our starting CBs and i wouldnt want him to go unless a replacement was found already...
magath doesnt like the way he plays (he lacks aggression and commitment at times) but technically is pretty solid...
i wouldnt mind if he left in the summer and we got huth, but i just hope we can cope with kuffours departure for the rest of the season (pretty sure toon will get him)

you can bet your bullaz clubs all over europe will be monitoring metzelders progress this season...
everybody on the SN boards think he s absolute class and quality, and if he can show even glimmers of the form from the world cup, europe will come down on dortmund like vultures to a dead carcass...
i sure hope bayern is one of them :D
huth lucio and metzelder on the squad sheet would be unbelievable

they should get metzelder (might be cheap considering borussias problems)Demichelis is quite strong but he doesn't have the confidence quite yet.
Metzelder first has to establish himself back at the elite level before he can be considered a transfer target for Bayern...

i quite like this board actually...
the germany forums seem to be the best on big soccer, and is probably the only area of bigsoccer that i visit regularly...
nobody on SN to discuss german footie anymore, and this isnt a bad alternative
any other posting is still done on SN...

lol, the part about kampa was pretty funny but other than that, i was pretty happy to read about the hildebrand-magath hotel connection :)
kahn needs something to spur him back to his best, and at worst, this will bring kahn back to his best form even if hildebrand doesnt arrive in the summer...
at best, both hildebrand and kahn will be bayern playrs this summer :D

The latest in the news is that his agent visited Newcastle yesterday to discuss the situation with Newcastle, but he insisted that no agreement has been made yet. The local press here seem quite confident a deal will be done next week but we are also chasing Man City's centre back Distin, so it is likely to be one or the other. I would much rather gamble on Kuffour for a small price because City want 7M(!) for Distin.
