I found this interestiing site Alternative World Cup (http://worldcup.gq.nu/). Basically, the guy just predicted fivr more World Cup Finals for 1906 to 1926.

What if FIFA, founded on May 21, 1904, did not fail at the time, and organized its first World Cup as originally planned, in 1906 in Switzerland (reference to the FIFA official Web site..... we could have had five more World Cups - in 1906, 1910, 1914, 1922 and 1926. WC could not have been held in 1918 due to the World War I (just like it has not been held in 1942 & 1946 due to the World War II). Who could have been World Champion and runner-up then?

Interesting that he also invents a location for the fictional World Cup to go with the fictional winner/runner-up.

Also, the fictional 1914 Cup was apparently held before the June assasination of Franz Ferdinand, else the competition would've been postponed due to the war.

Am I really finding fault with a pretend thing???? :o

Ok. What if the World Cup was held in June of 1914, in London, as the writer suggests, and Archduke Franz Ferdinand had attended? Then he would not have been assasinated, and we would not have had WWI, or WWII. Who knows what our world would look like today?

If they had all been played in Europe then it would be difficult to see past England or Scotland for all five really.

As for WW1, it would probably have still happened. The assasination the result of building tensions. Had Archduke Ferdinand been out of the country it would not have resolved the underlying causes of the war.

How did he work out the 1922 and 1926 games?

Scotland's record from 1921 to 1926 was P19 W15 D2 L2 winning 5 out of 6 British Championships. Uruguay may well have provided some stern opposition in 1926 (although Scotland won every game in 25 and 26) but to say that Austria, Holland and Czechoslovakia would all contest a hypothetical final ahead of them shows a lack of research.
