I have a girlfriend, who shock horror, dislikes football very much and hates it when I go off nearly every weekend early in the morning to board a coach to some shytehole to get pissed with the lads and support a football team.

How do you keep your other half happy? I drunkenly come home at like 11pm, and serenade my girl with chants and roses, then we go upstairs.

But I've also sent her on a trip to New York for two weeks with her best friend, just so I could've gone to Arsenal on a tuesday night... but you know what the fecker is? I have work, so I cant go. :(

So how do you keep your lass happy when you go off to the games? :D

you are kidding, right?

i think she might occasionally get the impression, for some odd reason, that football is more important to you than she is.

you must ask this question: if i do such and such, can she think ( cos if she can, she will! ) that football is more important to me than she is?

if the answer is "yes", then you must not do such and such. there is no way to make up for the fact that you have conveyed to her that football is more important than she. a trip to NYC is a trivial matter comparatively.

good luck, sir!

beat them?? beat them literally or just outwit them??

If you mean literally then use a belt or maybe a bat.

i have never been able to outwit a woman. i thought i had, maybe a dozen times, but in the final analysis, i had only duped myself. women are cunning and powerful and it is far better to tell them the truth. this requires living a life where the truth will not damage the relationship, but that is your burden, isn't it?

She's your girlfriend? Get rid of her now. It's not going to get any better. She'll always resent your football obsession, and she'll lord it over you for the rest of your life. Better to find someone who respects your passions.

I stay single, because footy has proven to treat me much better than women have. :)

Interesting for a guy whose tagline is "Master of my domain"

I imagine it's easier when you live in Alabama.

It sounds like this guy lives in London. If I lived in London, my girlfriend would HAVE to like football.

I would imagine it would be easier to find a footy chick there though.

She hated football. I was like fcuk you sunshine. And she divorced me. Magic. Getting divorced because of football. Oh and she was shagging behind my back. I didnt like her for the first reason and the second reason just helped the divorce process along. Magic. I would dump her mate. Never. Never ever put some skirt before your club.

Haha, class.

I know a lad who broke up with his girl because she wanted him to miss his 250th consecutive Man City game, for a wedding, he was like 'Do you realise the importance of this game?' She was like 'No', and he went 'See ya'. :D

Oh Ian cant you miss one little tiny incy whincy match for me. I'll be like. Lets think for a second. Errm. Not a chance. Move your stuff out by the time i get back. And by all means kick the Cat when you go out. She expects nothing less. :) :) :) :)

You have to lay down an ultimatum, but do it nicely. My wife (girlfriend at the time) nearly broke up over american football. She hated my watching it all the time. I told her, look, I am going to watch these matches avery week. It is who I am and what I do. Afterwards, we can do other things and be together. But for now, have a pint and wait.

She watches it some and likes to go to games now b/c I keep her full of beer and fed during the match!

It is all in the training! :D

my good friend.. if it wasn't football she'd be complaining that you - go out with the boys too much- or that you leave the toilet seat up- or that you don't walk the dog- or that you're shagging her best friend- or that you're unemployed.... on and on.. there's always something they'll complain about so enjoy your footie, bring home the roses and deliver the goods..

I guess so! :D

In the words of Harry Enfield, "Women, know your limits!" :D :D

Just have to set the record straight at the beginning. I put up with her crap and she doesn't give me any stick about watching/attending footie/football matches.

See. I'm a reasonable man. I watched soaps and documentarys till i was sick. But i did it. I give a little. But the evil skinny cow on the other hand. Oh. Why the fcuk you watching a bunch of men kicking a leather football around a field. In the end i had to tell her. FCUK OF WOMEN. I FCUKING LOVE FOOTBALL MORE THAN YOU. Too harsh? Not at all. Now get me another beer from the fridge please. :D :D :D :D I couldnt stand that woman any longer. Only married her to stop her moaning about it. Honestly.
