An inside source at the KC Star newspaper tells me that Seattle MLS leader Adrian Hanauer gave a short, brief set of answers to him in a recent email.

Basically, Hanauer is not against bringing an existing franchise to Seattle if the price is right. He also has an "ongoing" dialogue with MLS officials, and has spoken to the Hunt sports group, though he says there have been no direct talks about the KC Wizards.

End of statement.

Let's remember, people...Mr. Hanauer is a top POKER player. ;)

It could be argued that every MLS investor is a bit of a gambler.

I do not see any evidence of his poker playing being a problem. Unless, you consider gambling to be a problem regardless of income, time spent, ability and discipline. Mr Hanauer appears to do well in his business endeavours. It is possible to separate one's personal and professional life.

look, if he's about to bring MLS to the Emerald City then more power to him. Does anyone know what would happen to the Sounders if this happened? would they form the core of the MLS team? i think they'd be decent, especially if a little bit of wheeling and dealing brought home Brian Ching and Ian Russell, as well as KASEY KELLER!!!!!!

Hmmm, Brian Ching is Hawai'ian, played his college ball at Stanford, IIRC, so exactly how is he being brought home to Seattle?

Actually Ching played his college ball at Gonzaga in Spokane.

Hey, anyone know of any CURRENT Sounder players that could make the jump to an MLS roster?...... and where I can acquire a Sounders t-shirt/beanie?.....if Seattle can get KC then i would def support them. Let's hope Poker pays off for soccer.

We might lose Danny Jackson to MLS, as well as Welton Melo, Billy Sleeth and Jonothan Bolanos. Marco Velez is also a great physical specimen that MLS clubs have annual interest in.

Their Bios are here:

T-shirts, you say?

Official 2005 Sounders Merchandise will be posted on their website in a month or so, but they have not in the past had online ordering. That's part of why we created the fan stores linked above...

I think you're thinking of Roger Levesque.

We've been thinking about the same scenario with Rochester. More than likely the A-league team would either fold or be sold to another investor. Then that franchise would either move or simply no longer exist. The Rhinos owner could decide to keep the name or completely re-brand the team. Maybe the Rochester Freezing Cold Snowmonkeys? It would be no big deal. A-league teams fold with alarming regularity, as the example of my Syracuse team demonstrates.

Seattle would just do the same thing. All A-league players contracts wouldn't be valid with the MLS single-entity system anyway. They'd have to be re-negotiated if those players were kept.

Let's hope Seattle does indeed get a team at some point, but hopefully not at the expense of another group of fans.

Another source at 90:00 minure magazine said he talked with Hanauer just before Christmas and was told by Hanauer himself that he hasn't talked specifically with MLS about Seattle in over a month...

The source thinks the quieter Hanauer becomes, the more likely it is that something is in the works.

I don't know about that. He's ALWAYS kept a very low profile.

I think Seattle would be a great place for an MLS team. It will be interesting to see if they get a team.
