This is interesting. Found it on l'Equipe. Apparently, PSG and Lens will wear all white and all black kits this weekend as part of a campaign against racism.

Yep, Holland are doing the same with their upcoming friendly as well.

I have the media spiel here:

"Racism is the biggest problem facing football across Europe. people may think it has disappeared, but it hasn't. It's time for us all to take a stand - players, fans and authorities. It's time to stand up and speak up."

- Thierry Henry.

Unforunately racism remains a serious issue in football. An issue that the players alone cannot tackle. One voice can't drown out a sea of racist abuse from a crowd, or retaliate to racist taunts from one sick individual. But together, we can make ourselves heard.

STAND UP SPEAK UP is a new campaign, supported by players, which aims to give the silent majority of proper, decent fans the confidence to voice their disapproval against racist abuse.

The campaign will adopt the symbol of a black and white wrsitband which will be available for donation throughout Europe (also the PSG club shop.) All proceeds will go to a fund a dedicated to helping groups across Europe who work tirelessly to tackle racism in football. For me information go to:

www.standupspeakup.com

Because Lens and PSG both use Nike as their kit supplier ths match was chosen to highlight this cause.

Plasil was very good in the midfield. But our midfield was totally non-existant, so I could have played and given the PSG centre a run around.

I think Semak played well in the grand scheme of things. The attack from the midfield should improve when Rothen returns and if he can show something resembling his form last year. The problem with PSG seems to be with movement of the ball more generally. They could not get it out of their own end and quickly resorted to attempting the long ball which is a 50-50 option that actually played out 10% for PSG and 90% interception for Monaco. The midfield is a discgrace. They have nobody in the midfield who can move the ball from their own end and the left and right backs can't move the ball. Basically there is nobody who can get the ball to Semak or Rothen to work it into Luboja or Pauletta. Given the inability to secure points from the bottomdwellers I think any hope of European football next year is dwindling. The CL is not an option and UEFA is going to start slipping away. This is very very sad because the team looked so good last year. Take care.

Fighting racism, eh? France DEFINATELY is a country that needs to wake up and realize that they are not the bastion of tolerance that they like to believe that they are. One of, if not, the most Anti-Semitic country in Europe telling other countries to crack down on racism.....gimme a break! I hope the atmosphere between French Jews and others in France gets much better.

I'm very excited that football clubs are getting involved since sports play such a major part of our lives. Let's hope we see some results with the behavior of supporters in the stadiums across Europe. Racism is such an ugly human behavior and has NO business being associated with The Beautiful Game.

we do not really have racist movements in football stadiums in france, but we have individuals who are racist, like there are everywhere. i have no idea what that new thing against racism is, cause i don't give a ******** about thierry henry or the league or such associations, but you can't fight racist people with a TV ad and some clubs showing their interest into that new fight, which will profit them more than this noble cause. the fight against racism is a fight that every country should lead because it's only a matter of social and education mistakes. i'm sorry but when you are a racist, you most likely are one for life.. so, thierry, give the money to some useful association instead, there are tons of..

OH, PUHLEEZE! Another English-speaker dissing the French. I thought that Germany still holds the title of being the most anti-Jew in Europe. Notice that I did not use the term anti-Semitic since Arabs and Ethiopians are also Semites. The issue of PSG and Lens wearing uniforms for the stop the racism in football campaign is a nice gesture but it is stupid. It is too symbolic. If one wants to get rid of racist fans, don't do business with them. If the fans are caught chanting racist stuff, they get a warning. If they do it again, they are banned!! The fans could no longer purchase tickets either from a ticket box office or from the web. Even if they purchased the tickets from a scalper, the fans have to be removed. The clubs must have the balls of not doing business with these people even if they were members of the ultras supporter groups.

Definetly, as soon as JR gets back we should start to improve. We have badly missed him. The midfield is very poor, but barr Eduoard Cisse we still have the same midfield that got to 2nd a won the French cup last season.

We need a ball-winner to play alongisde Semak. Semak will play behind Pauleta (much in the Ljuboja role last year.) But without a Jarosik or Aldonin type player, then Semak will make no impact. The CSKA game was based on pure work ethic. Would should not rely him to solve all of our problems. The passing movement last year, was based on our counter attacking style and strict defensive play. This year, the defensive has gone to pot, and the midifeld have lost that exburance they once had - they just appeared to excel in their roles and enjoy playing (who can blame them 0 they were always winning.)

The chance of direct European qualification is out of the question and should only remain a will dream, should the club go on an unbelievable run of results so late into the season. The best we can hope for at this stage, is to retain the Coupe de France.

The last time I looked I thought this was a football forum? I only quoted the blurb to indicate what the organistaion is behind the PSG v Lens game, and why they doing it. Although its nice to discuss the fragilties French life and the social implications of anti-semitism, its best done away from football threads. If you guys want to discuss then please do so in on a NSR forum or thread.

The whole idea of the campaign was to seperate racism from football, and although I admire you ability to speak up about the situation, please don't let it distract from the football talk, thanks.

This has been discussed far too many times on these threads for my liking.

Two players that seem to be missed from last year are Heinze and Sorin. Heinze has revitalized the defense at Man Utd. (both on the defensive end and by adding another option to move the ball from the back to the midfield). Although Sorin seems to be coming in as a sub for Villareal, he really stood out during the Copa this summer, serving as real leader for the squad, a role that perhaps stemmed from a confidence that grew from PSG's success last year. I'm sure I'm missing some other players that have left but these two come to mind as players that helped move the ball last year.

In the search for a defensive midfielder during the Mercato, PSG would have tried to sign Mathieu Berson in the last authorised hours, on Monday evening.

According to our colleagues in West-France, Mathieu Berson was in Paris on Monday to negotate his arrival to PSG. But due to a breakdown of personal terms, the former Nantes player is back at Aston Villa where the competiton for places has been reinforced with the arrival of Eric Djemba-Djemba.

I can't be arsed translating, just learn French (lol) Basically means we are getting 20 million euros, as part of the mammoth deal with Canal+.

We should a get s***t load then other teams, because we always on the TV.

Thanks to cass75 sending me tapes of PSG debacles, I'm able to look pretty closely at what tv allows you to see of the tactics, and I've come to the conclusion that almost every player is playing slightly out of position to cover weaknesses, b/c their play in ther best positions is in and of itself weak.

We need folks being the best they can be in their best positions.

We'll see today. Maybe different kit will help; not much else has.
