Baptism of fire for Fournier
Sunday, 13 February 2005
By Chris Burke
Paris Saint-Germain FC's new coach Laurent Fournier is thrown in at the deep end this Sunday when his side face FC Girondins de Bordeaux in the French Cup round of 32.
PSG pressure
"We'll be playing for our whole season this weekend," said PSG president Francis Graille, and though Fournier has only been in charge since Tuesday, the pressure is on. Defending the French Cup is the capital club's sole chance of glory and their only remaining route to Europe, having been eliminated from the UEFA Champions League and dropped to 12th in Ligue 1.
Fournier optimistic
Nevertheless, former player Fournier is confident he can turn things around. "I'll do everything I can to remotivate these players because they just need to find their soul again," he said. Visitors Bordeaux, in eighth place, are in a slightly less precarious position, and coach Michel Pavon insists PSG's problems won't distract them. "We have to forget what's going on there and focus on what we're doing," he said.
Lyon tie
In Sunday's other tie, Toulouse FC take on reigning league champions Olympique Lyonnais.

Well, i suppose we can kiss this cup goodbye. Got no chance at Auxerre, even if we can and try to beat Bordeaux.

Nothing like ganu spittin in your face to brighten your afternoon. The definition of positive thinking says see Ganu. May be that is why I still like PSG, remind me of being a Chicago sports fan.
So much hope and tons of disappointment.

When you support PSG expect a win when you stare at defeat and a defeat when your'e wondering how many we will score against this pub-side.
We should beat Bordeaux at home, we always do. But as for Auxerre, they are on fire at the minute. And I never like going to that foggy marsh of a town.
But if we can get to 3 succesive cup-finals that would be unreal for us.

How many French Cups have PSG won? Where do they fall compared to the club with the most French Cup Trophies?

Is he still with the team? I saw him play in the states for Saint Louis University.

scoring for taking off his shirt and that was his second

Get in! :D
Well it was only against ten men, but still…..
Well a moment of utter stupidity by Chamakh cost them the game. Had he kept his shirt on, they probably would have won. They passed it better and looked far better than us. Francia blasted the ball in from deep and Chamakh got the deft headed touch to send it past Alonzo.
Even with the ten men, I thought that Bordeaux out-passed us for large chunks of the game. But thanks to sheer persistence we go the break-through, and after that it was going to be one winner. Few points..
* Reinaldo…..wtf does he do? He is a supposed striker and yet he was contrived to play “let’s see who can miss the best chances” award. Should have settled the game at the last minute and had tons of chances to score. The moment Ljubo comes back he will take the position Semak played and Semak will play were Reinaldo did.
* Work-rate. It just appears that some players aren’t working hard enough. Pauleta was working his socks off and other players were simply not trying hard enough as the others. I get the impression that there are players covering up for others.
* PFF - get him out now. He’s a joke. Even if Chamakh had missed the header, it would have been penalty because this so-called defender tried to grab his shirt. Also could have cost us in extra-time for a seemingly winning position. Why the hell he has the armband, I’ll never know.
* Pancrate - outstanding, nuff said.
* I want our ultras back…..Graille get lost so they can get on with what they do best.
* Have to be more deadly in other games. Those missed chances thankfully didn’t cost us any league points. This is a good win, but PSG still need to improve in key areas, especially upfront and defending crosses and set-pieces.

True.I liked SuperMario as well.
And I miss the songs from Boulogne & Auteuil ( I'm fed up with "Graille,Larrue démission!" and "J.P Larrue est une salope" chants.

lol. hehe. :D It was funny at first but kinda sad. All the banners have gone, except the large Demission banner over the Auteuil.
Its like being at the velodrome.
And yes Mario did have a good game, PFF is just shocking though.

Larrue denied the access to the offices in the PDP where the ultras store the banners, flags, drums, flares, smoking pots and everything they need to prepare tifos.
