Fulham playSouthampton at Southampton. This is a match where Fulham can get 3 points. If they can win they can get away from the relegation battle.

Southampton is a desparate team playing at home so the 3 points will be hard earned for either given their repective forms.

If boa and Steed are in form, Fulham will win this match. Yes, its that simple! It will be a hard fought match from both sides, but after coming off our win vs. Palace and hearing how the team responded when Boa started hitting his stride, I think we will pull a win out.
Now onto Lee Clark, the general is back in the line up!!!!

Happy New Year to you Mike and all the FFC faithful. The Beattie transfer has to help Fulham's cause. While the remaining Soton players will put up a fight this has to be demoralizing for them - at least until they spend the 6 mil on someone else. Looking for a good game from Boa. I'm expecting a goal from him. I saw my first and only Fulham game in person just over a year ago (Boxing Day 2003) against Southampton. Going into that game Fulham were 4th in the table and Soton were 6th. What a difference a year makes!

A happy new year to you also!! The Beattie transfer is a kick in the teeth for them but regardless, they knew he was going to leave.

Boa just seemed to spark the boys on Saturday and in my very much hung over state of mind, it sounded like the second half of that match was all ours.

A year makes a huge difference, much of our team from last year is either gone or injured!!

I am not so sure the Beattie transfer helps all that much. In fact I think we might be running into Southampton at a weird time. With Harry Redknapp coming in and wanting to make changes, there is a sense of urgency among the Soton players. Indeed Beattie was a great player when he was healthy, but look at what happened to Everton when their great player, Rooney, left Goodison Park. I am not saying Southampton is gonna turn it around that way, but you never know what a team is going through during a period of change like now at St. Mary's Provident.
But, I do agree with Mike. If Steed and Boa are healthy and in form, Fulham should win. I am predicting a 1-0 win for Fulham. Once again, another massive 6 pointer here.

I think two in a row is too much to ask for from this team

i think they'll lose by about 8 goals and decide to play better again in about 3 or 4 weeks

This january will make or break our season.

We've got So'ton (currently 19th)
then Watford (16th in the championship)
then WBA (dead last in the EPL right now)
Then Birmingham (12th)
Then Villa (9th)

We can Start with 3 points here, go on in the cup, then get another 5-7 points in the next few months. Its possible right now.

We could also get booted from the Cup, drop about 10 points and have

Liverpool
Newcastle
Spurs
Charlton
ManU

To put the nail in the coffin

3-3 with 25 minutes left, according to BBC website, probably like 10 minutes off

sounds like a fun game to watch

3-3

What the hell has happened to our defense? That used to be the way we won games. Zesh Boca and Knight had bad games and Rosinier scored a goal

for so'ton

Although that was certainly an entertaining match, given Fulham's position in the table I would have been much happier with a dour 1-0 win.

Tough break for Rosenior- besides the own goal he played pretty well (better than the rest of our defenders tonight anyway).

Am I the only one who gets a feeling of inevitable doom when a team like Fulham looks to be equally matched by a team like Southampton, when Fulham clearly has more talented players?

I liked the way Van Der Sar consoled Rosenior immediately; it was really a one-off thing and as you said, he did play well. I thought Boca was fine, and I was sad to see McB come in only on the 92d minute or something; I don't think he touched the ball.

During the part I saw (from about minute 32 on, after we were down 2:1) Fulham dominated. The own-goal was very much against the run of play. But after that, we had few real chances.

I'm told you always have to be satisified with a point on the road, and I'm not all that concerned with relegation given the weakness of the teams behind us, but I was truly hoping for a second straight win to move us into position to finish in the top half of the table. To do that, its necessary to win games against 19th-place teams even on the road. I'm don't feel very satisfied with the point. :(

Rosenior was one of the best players for Fulham then he scores an own goal.Zat Knight made way too many mistakes maybe Boca should be in the center of defense with Rehman.Cole needs to finish. He had some great chances to make it 4-2.

You are correct, Cole did have great chances. It seemed that during the middle third of the game we were attacking relentlessly, until the own goal. Cole also foolishly obstructed keeper goal kicks twice, getting cautioned the second time. I don't know what was wrong with him today.

I posted this over on the FulhamUSA board, but i'll post it here too.

Get Zesh out of the middle, and put him on loan to some second division team where he belongs. We'll trade him for a pair of keeper gloves and a new whistle.

Put Boca back in the middle where he doesn't get beat on the outside and pray that jerome bonnisel comes back soon to take back his spot at left back.

I'm not too worried about the offense of this club, we seem find scoring goals, but we can't keep them out. its almost the opposite of last year, when we held arsenal to a 0-0 draw, held manU to 3 goals in 3 games, won all sorts of games 1-0. I just don't understand what has happened to the Defense on this team.

What really pissed me off is that Cole seemed to not even be on the field most and I mean MOST of the match...I know he is hot and cold but my god, its gotten rediculous!

I was skeptical about Andy's position at the club the moment we picked him up. Sure, he has won us a few games (Palace, for example) but his signing hasn't been overly positive in my opinion. He has stunted the development of young striker, Collins John, for one, and probably dampened the team's spirits with his hot-and-cold performances, as well as the occasional undisciplined acts we witness.

Hopefully we can solve our striker problems next season.
