there's no way that lampard is a better midfeilder or player for that matter than totti.
totti is way more talented, and is almost on the same level as ronaldihno
lampard is barely on guti's level and he only edges him out because he is slightly faster than guti.

Totti is a better player then Lampard, but i would rather have a teammate of Lampard's calibre then the distractions of a player such as Totti :D

I think it's just because a lot of people despise Italian Football and do not see Totti play. I agree with you about Totti. He is clearly a much better midfielder and player than Lampard. Lampard has a lot more composure however.

Totti gets a lot of deserved flak for stupid things. Such as the spitting incident and needless cards. I think they are blown out of proportion to a degree (Other players play "dirtier" than him and aren't nearly as despised) but that's what he gets for being in the spotlight. For Roma he is a phenomenal captain and has brought some seriously brilliant performances. He has yet to emulate that success when playing for the national team.
Like someone said, he is more talented than Lampard. Most of us would rather have the better team player like Lampard over Totti though. Also it is worth noting that comparing Lampard and Totti is akward. Totti is an AM and sometimes a support striker, while I'm quite sure Lampard is a CM.

Comparing these 2 is pretty stupid... it's like saying who's better player? Gerrard or Ronaldinho??
Lampard and Gerrard are two of the world's best central midfielders right now.... they defend well.. attack well.... alwaysh ave the ball and are their team's engine.. while players like Totti and Ronaldinho are ATTACKING midfielders who sometimes even play as support strikers as someone already mentioned... dont do much defending and when they try they fail... so comparing someone like Gerrard to Totti or Lampard for that matter is like comparing a COMPLETE player to a TALENTED attacking midfielder.
Either way i'd rather have Lampard over in my team anyday. Almost every country has a #10 attacking midfielder with superb passing/technique and much flair that makes them #10 and fun to watch but barely any players across Europe are as complete as Gerrard and Lampard and can contribute to both Defence/Attack as much as those two.
Midfield players are usually either attacking minded ones like Totti or Def like Makelele and not good going forward.... but when you found someone who does both greatly and scores as much as an attacking midfielder which is only job Totti does... then you know they're your stars and there is not that many CMs who do both attack and defence great which is why Lampard and Gerrard are both >>> Totti.
As I said... every country has a #10 and you can go to places like Romania and Serbia and they have wondefulyy gifted #10 who each year come to Europe for big money and can replace people like Totti but not a lot who'll be able to replace likes of Lampard.
Plus like Forza Badger said.. its not always about who's better footballer but who would you rather have on your team??
No doubt Totti is a better footballer than Viera and I'm sure if it came to doing things like keepups... Totti could probably do twice as much as someone like Viera but who would I rather have on my team?? pretty obvious.

L'equipe have Frank Lampard in their team of 2004 and this guy seems to think Totti was more deserving of a place.

Personally i think Totti should have been picked over Lampard, although Lampard is very good.

2004 wasn't even a special year for Totti. He's been better before but it was defintely Lampard's best ever season and he did a lot... and had a big impact.
what did Totti do? make Italy champions?? and was descent like always for roma but Lampard was SUPERB for Chelsea... the best premiership player of 2004 and scored 3 in Euro 2004 and one of England's best players... i mean c'mon.....

Totti is a more talented player. Of that there is no doubt. Lampard was a better player last season, both for club and country. Of that there should be little doubt.
At his best, Totti is better. He's just not at his best often enough, let alone playing. Italy looked far better when Totti was out, not even considering the fact that Totti spit at another player to rule himself out of the most important games of the year. Lampard only scored with 5 minutes to go to take the quarter final to penalties. Hmmm, whom would I take on my team?

Lampard is a good worker but has NOWHERE near the skill of Totti!
this discussion is really like comparing Henry to Drogba.. its no question its Henry everytime.. a fool would choose fat franky lampard.

did you watch the European Championship in 2000? DOMINATE PLAYER for the Azurri~ he is a primadonna, arrogant, and are you teammates with him? otherwise you wouldnt have a clue.
