well xavi just to play as a central defensive mildfilder last year, but rijaark
put him on top, for barcelona, I guess the best midlfielder they have is juan roman riquelme, one of the best on the world, and a unique passer

I'd take Ballack over the other three any day.

Riquelme is OK, but he tends to play lazy and slow at times
and he doesn't show up in big games.
xavi on the other hand is also a good passer who controls midfield and
shows up to play everygame
and honestly, i dont think that riquelme will ever pley in barcelona colors again

Riquelme will be back at Barca next year to replace Ronaldinho.

i'd take ballack #1, gerrard #2 in a close call, but they're all excellent spirited players

You didn't hear? Chelsea will sign Ronaldinho in the summer. At least that's what Max Bretos says ;) :p

What are u saying
Ronaldihno will be at barca for the next five years at least
and even if he did leave riquelme could never replace him

I dont care what they say about riquelme. but even maradona said, that riquelme was the best player for argentina. ive have seen more potential in riquelme than for example ZIDANE,, remember the continental cup?? when boca and real played..I fell bad even explaining how frustating makelele was after having to cover riquelme. Riquelme plays different than ronaldinho, but he is as good. and probably a better passer in my humble opinion!!

What r u talkin about
Viera has gone over the hill.......he's past his prime
Pirlo is overated as well as lampard
Xavi and deco are differnet players with different roles and therefore cannot be compared
so that is why xavi must be the best

Good call.
Except that i would make Gerrard my top man.
Then again, it's all relative.
Some great players just don't 'fit' into some teams.
balla

The thing Ballack has over the rest of these players is he can score with his head. The rest just score with their feet but he scores a lot with his head aswell.

For the past year, Xavi. Two years ago (WC 2002), Ballack. Three years ago, Gerrard (Liverpool).
