now calm down matthew. obviously your tough upbringing in ghetto fabulous hatfield has given you a tendency to jump the gun and violently over-react without thinking. did i claim we had won anything, or that spurs were better than arsenal? i believe not. i simply responded to a claim that spurs had not signed any top class players since paul gascoigne, a claim that was very obviously false. what you are trying to do is ignore the fact that the argument had become a little more nuanced and get safely back to more familiar territory, along the lines of "well we are better than you we have one more" (this quite limited theme incidentally seems to make up the majority of the body of work you have done in your big soccer posting. i also note your over-use of the exclamation mark, which suggests to me an inferiority complex of some kind, and a desperate need for attention.) the one thing we HAVE done is continued to spend money on big name players, and we have punched above our weight in getting the likes of klinsmann. rebrov, one of the most highly rated strikers in europe at the time, and one of the all time champions league top goal scorers (he's still 3rd or 4th i believe) was another example. then there's keane and defoe. my contention would be that our failure has been in creating strength in depth and providing the right kind of service to these players. any thoughts you have contrary to this would be fascinating.
and what did u do with them besides ********-up and play ********!
when the majority of people think north-london they think arsenal!
not sp*rs, but ARSENAL!
how many trophys u win in the 90's?
what was it?
1?
yes - 1!
arsenal won 8!

i admit that i didnt read the post you were replying to (which is a first)
no doubting spurs in the past ten years have got some good players!
klinsman, gazza (92 i know), rebrov, ginola ("i use loreal coz i am worthless") keane, defoe..... i mean, i could go on.
but what do spurs do with them?
nothing of any note

Everyone can have a second club from a lower division but not the other way around. Mine (along with a lot of Arsenal fans) is Orient.
But if the Blades come up and beat us, then they can get stuffed ;)

yeah, you're right.. we had no-one in the nineties..who was that german guy...that real deadbeat..klansman..klensmin...something like that. he sucked ... what's a player of the year award anyway. and don't even get me started on that french guy..the shampoo bloke...all he ever won was a lousy player of the year award too. for the record, gascoigne was in fact sold against his will to ease the club's financial plight. so bite me.
Both were past their best when you signed them. And it's easy for someone to shine at a mediocre club.
Rebrov was always going to be rubbish without Shevchenko. Defoe only went to Sperz because the big clubs didn't want him. He is a typical Sperz man though. Asking for a transfer the day after your club is relegated - pure class. Your best signing was Rohan Ricketts! :D Whatever happened to him?

well actualy my favorite team is SSC Napoli, but they are not in top flight so i am AS Roma and Man Utd supporter until Napoli makes the return to serie A.
But what about the UEFA cup? has Arsenal won that? Napoli has! Roma has!
Has Arsenal won anything outside of England? Come on now they are a bunch of chokers.
Hah. What a doucebag. Pick a team before you come in here and talk trash, junior.

bollocks were they past their best. klinsmann came straight from monaco and big time european football, turning down offers from the top clubs in italy and spain, scored 20 plus goals and along with cantona was one of the most hyped and influential foreigners ever to play in the premier league. on leaving us he went to bayern munich. ginola has said his player of the year season for us was the best football he ever played.
wenger obviously disagreed about rebrov because you had been inquiring about him too. and defoe was well known as a united target. rohan ricketts had a good start to the season before being inexplicably dropped by pleat.

Technically they are, they have a huge fan base, and are one of the richest clubs in europe.
But are they a big club in a football game? No.....

How on earth was Klinsmann past his best? He had just scored 5 goals in the WC and in 96 captained Germany to victory at Euro 96. He was also player of the year in his season at Spurs. Forget about that argument.
Ginola played his best football in England at Spurs, that is why he was player of the year in the season when United won the teble and we finished 13th. Again that is a non-starter.
Also it was Rebrov that made Shevchenko at Dynamo Kiev not the other way round.
Don't even talk about class to Spurs. You were the team that gave Judas his 30 pieces of silver.

no its not possible coz their fans are to busy throwing bricks at arsenal fans anyway to hold a conversation.
even if you were to hold a conversation with a spurs fan you'd be lucky if they were able to string three words together!
does it hurt you comme knowing the reason campbell came to us was to win medals and trophys?

No, I don't live in a fantasy world. At this moment in time Arsenal are more likely to win trophies than Spurs, you would have to be barking mad not to realise that. What keeps Spurs fans going is the knowledge that it won't last forever. Football is a game of luck as much as anything. You appointed Wenger and hit gold, we pray that our new manager will have even greater success. God knows we deserve a bit of success.

Tottenham are always linked with world class names, but I don't understand why a Trappatoni, O'Neill and a Mourinho would leave very successful clubs and join a bottom-half rubbish team?
comme
12 May 2004, 04:47 PM
The reason for Mourinho and O'Neill is that big as their clubs are, Spurs have the potential and the money to be bigger. We may be poor at the moment but there is the potential for someone to gain real glory and praise if they can make Spurs good.
Trappatoni is old and propably would fancy a new challenge.

 Yes you do live in a fantasy world. Your fans deserve no succsess. They are animals and disgraceful arseholes and the sooner the press turns it's attention away from the Millwall troublemakers to the Hooligans of Spurs the better the Premiership will be. And before you start that is not an off the cuff remark. I was at the Championship winning game and I saw what happened. It is a disgrace to football that people like that are allowed to support football.

Comparing us to Milwall? You have to be joking. If the shoe had been on the other foot and we had won it at the Library I'm sure even your fans would have found something to excite them.

im sorry comme but rickbreese is spot-on!
tottenham fans are a disgrace, just god damn ********ing foul!
im not saying you are, im pretty sure youre a lovely guy, but the fact is that there is a big section of spurs fans like this - i have witnessed the actions of spurs fans a few times - ive seen arsenal over 100 times down at highbury and ive not seen a single fan cause a spot of bother and we have a reputation across europe of englands most beahved fans along wit man utd.
we have all seen how millwall are desperatley trying to their image round - its clear for everyone to see, but spurs dont do ******** all!
its ********ing disgusting

What happened after Arse clinched the title at White Hart Lane? All the Arse fans are calling Spurs supporters scumbags because of the way they acted, but I'm not sure what these "actions" were.

well, i didnt wanna say anything....
:D
manyoo players are just as thughish, but lets be grown up and not go down this road again.
Hosscat, for your info, the spurs fans were extremely emotional after seeing them get a last min equaliser - going nuts, then the whistle went and the celebrations stopped for them and they saw us celebrating our title on their pitch and then just acted a ********ing disgrace by trying to push on the pitch to attack our players - the police managed to restrain them and get them out of the stadium then the supporters dissapered - the arsenal fans were made to wait till the area was deemed safe and then 100 or so police lead the arsenal fans put of the ground but 200 yards down the road 300 spurs fans came running out of a side street and attacked the arsenal fans!
