Not everybody hates Arsenal.

When I finally got Directv and started watching the EPL on Fox Sportsworld, I decided it would help to pick a team to "root" for. I chose Arsenal because my son's first travel soccer team had picked the name, although I must confess at that time I did not know why.

I soon learned of the history of Arsenal and was told by many that I should pick a different squad as the gunners played boring soccer. They could not have been more wrong. Arsenal has helped me learn to appreciate the world game. They have been exciting to watch and competitive since I started following them in '98. I have come to appreciate Henry as the best striker in the world and have enjoyed the clever play of Bergkamp and the tenasciousness of Lundberg. I look forward to my first chance to get to Highbury to enjoy a match the way it was meant to be seen.

My only experience with an Arsenal hater occurred at a basketball practice. I was coaching my son's team and we were adding a new player that had just moved from London. I was waxing poetically to his father about how much I loved watching the EPl. His father beamed and shook my hand. He asked me if I followed any particular team. I proudly replied, "Arsenal". He frowned, said " I am a Spur's man". We never spoke again.

I like the story, but having been to a Spurs match in London, THFC fans really do hate Arsenal's guts (the fact that Arse is so good right now just adds fuel to the fire). I can kind of see how the guy was pissed, but he probably should have given you a break because you're a Yank and all.

Most people around these parts think I'm talking about the San Antonio basketball team when I say I'm a Spurs fan. The only English club most Americans have ever heard of is Man Utd (even huge sports fans don't even have a clue who Arsenal is in my experience).

New post. Same weak sauce.

Sigh.

Hahaha. The Double. Hahahahahaha. I understand why you post so much (probably in between your "wrist exercises"). The only place a sp*rs fan could ever win is on a message board.

Good old gooners eh? It's only a game for christ sake, but whats Arsenal's number one fan trying to do? Bomb Man Utd.

I'm speechless. It's like even Osama Bin Laden seems to think that Man Utd are his biggest rivals. Ha ha! It's like England trying to claim Brazil are their biggest rivals in the vain hope that will somehow put them on the same level.

I can only hope that Ariel Sharon gets involved and sends an air strike to Highbury.

I have to agree, I'm not looking forward to seeing next year's squad fielded... Yuck.

Geographically your local team should be Arsenal if you live in Stoke Newington. Dont worry that its only 15700 days since you won the league. Cheer up by having a look around the spurs trophy room.

Look whose talking, some muppet who thinks sticking North London in his location is going to make us think he's a local supporter. Pull the other one, it's got bells on :D

Oh you wanted reply eh? Yes, living in Stokey is offensive sometimes, with all those hippy new aged parents going to watch the Arse in the local veggie gastro pub, occasionally looking up from The Guardian and their fu cking latte's.

However, I used to live Woodford Green, before all the entire cast of Eastenders decided to move out there, hence the affiliation. I am thinking of moving up to Muswell Hill, as the stench emanating from Highbury on match days is sometimes overwhelming...

I would not go to Muswell Hill though its just as bad there. The only reason they look up is because the TV would never have the sound turned up.

You all don't know what you are talking about because Arsenal are not the most hated club in England. That title goes to Manchester United who not only have people boo, yell, curse, and do worse to them at every away stadium but also have the FA dealing out unfair punishments upon them. When Ruud was attacked by Arsenal players after the game at Old Trafford in the beginning of the season the worst punishment was like four games or something. All those players were punching and kicking Ruud. When Rio accidently skips a drug test and then later passes it he is suspended for 8 months! Rio got 8 months because they thought he might have taken a steroid or something. Martin Keown, Ray Parlour, and the Arsenal gang get a couple games suspensions for their attempt at a rumble. Whats going on? Surely beating someone up is worse than maybe having taken a pill, isn't it?

Get back to reality. while I do think the FA have had some form of bias agaisnt MAnU this season (Lehmann pushes Ronaldo to the ground,. pushes a ref & bounces a ball of Kevin Philips head & gets no punishment --- Paul Scholes pushes Doriva & gets a 3 match ban ios a perfect & recent example), the Arsenal players were never 'kicking' & 'punching' Ruud, they were pushign him & Martin Keown elbowed him. They definitely deserved more than they got, and I think Rio deserved less than he got, but your exaggerations only weaken your own argument.

I don't see why any of the trendies are into football anyway, I mean it's not on radio 4 is it?They most probably read in the guardian that Saddam is a Arsenal fan or maybe they pass highbury on their way to work as a community/gay/ethnic/anti-war/youth/unemployed/innercity/refugee/etc outreach political correct twat.

Juice, I'm sure even satanic gooners might object to bandwagon jumpers such as yourself declaring yourself Arsenal because they're above average at the moment.

Spurs, the saints in white, are my local team. Geographically, your nearest premiership side should be Liverpool shouldn't it? I think they're the furthest West.

I reckon Clissold park rangers are nearer, why not support them, or don't you fancy a sucsessful team ? Infact geographicly Arsenal are probabally nearer.
