I sort of agreed with you to an extend. The arsenal between 1972 and 1988 were fairly pants. were not winning anything, and our sole goal each season was to finish ahead of Spurs. Pre 71 were fine though.

And your right Spurs used to be a major player, and in fact as I recall were one of the teams responsible for breaking away from the FA and starting up the Premiership.

However a falure to evolves, and a string of dodgy managers has meant Spurs has languished in mid table obscurity. Drastic changes are needed but Im not sure the board is prepaed to make them.

One things for sure. Arsenal have a rivalry with Spurs. Spurs have a seething hatred for Arsenal. Thats the difference.

At the moment. West Ham for some bizarre reason have that for us, as do Chelsea, all though for how long now they're rich remains to be seen... I live around Arsenal fans and I'd say it's more than rivalry, the thought of Spurs getting relegated actually caused quite a bit of malicious excitement from the arse fans, even the trendy veggies who loved Saddam Hussein but hate Tony Blair with a passion - I won't go on...

When Spurs finally get there act together, perhaps things will get a bit more mutually heated. Daniel Levy, although not the greatest footballing mind, seems to know what he's doing.

Gown..? He doesn't want to look silly so he takes the Mumu.
And the beret is a Dom Deloise flat cap. (Fat guy hat.)

Just your average American really...! (Ducks and runs)
Lisa: "Dad? Where are you?"

Homer: "I'm downstairs washing my fat guy hat, honey!"

Classic.

I remember Liverpool when they were a big club. My, and I thought you were only 12 years old.

I think you'll find it was the press that said we were going to win the treble not us.

Not all of you did, but don't act like you were all innocent.

Yeah, yeah, the same way many folks in the United forum were saying big things were in store after all the summer signings....
We all have our share of "hopeful boasters" (is that a Dickens character?)

I know you're Canadian. That's why you're a wannabe yank.

That's laughable. Not many Canadians want to be yanks, and I'm certainly not one. I live in the best city in the best country in the world. Why would I want to be a yank?

i have no reason to believe an arsenal fan would make it up..see also fever pitch, where nick hornby mentions "obscene and unforgiveable anti-semitic chanting" from arsenal fans.

In 1987, maybe. :p

Billy - I couldn't get Lanesra to say we were going to win the championship until the final whistle went at Tottenham. He is Arsenal's biggest pessimist.

I remember Liverpool when they were a big club.

Liverpool are still a bigger club than Arsenal, just a worse team. They are THE BIGGEST club in Britain, I reckon Man U are second. Maybe when Ashbourbe Grove is finished and you're filling it every week for a few decades, as Liverpool fill Anfield you can begin to talk about being bigger. As an Evertron fan I feel it's very important to distinguish between size and current quality, (I'm sure many Spurs fans feel the same way).
