So you consider Spurs comaparable to Cardiff City then?

Before the last 3 seasons? No not a chance. But from the last 3 seasons, unfortunatly yes. And as I have said, I am not just saying something, ive only seen myself. Away fans share views, and at the moment, most away fans are saying they would rather go to Cardiff than Spurs. Sorry as you are obviously a fan not a thug and you are trying to stick up for your club, but there has been a considerable rise in trouble.

Its just no true though. I have been to see Cardiff City on many many occasions and their fans are much worse. Perhaps the reason that the fans in London fear Spurs more is a natural London rivalry. Going to the millenium for a charity shield or FA cup final game is not the same as a proper match against them. I was in Cardiff for the Cup finals against Liverpool and Chelsea and for every Charity Shield held there (except the Liverpool-United game of 2001) and nothing really happened that I saw. Go to Ninian for a proper game and see what happens then. If you go and ask Leeds fans or Stoke fans or Swansea fans or Bristol City or any neutral fans who they would rather face then the answer would be Spurs

Season is over, we won the league at White Hart Lane. I can't be bothered to get irritated by people until next season. Enjoy the summer, enjoy football nd welcome to my ignore list.

Don't even talk about class to Spurs. You were the team that gave Judas his 30 pieces of silver.
And he's had four further pieces of silver since!

like the ones who sat near my jewish arsenal supporting friends at highbury and sung "spurs are on their way to auschwitz" throughout a game. how charming. so what are you going to do about that?)
I've been to every Arsenal home game for the last 7 seasons and i've never heard this. They must be singing very quietly or there's only a couple of them.

that reaction is IDENTICAL to what you would get from any set of away fans in the country, including the scum's if van nistelrooy or robbie keane celebrated a goal by running straight up to them.

But neither of those two are the greatest player in the world at the moment. Those supporters should feel privileged to be in the same football ground as Henry.

Spurs fans do appear to be particularly bitter at the moment. Don't know why!

Ronaldinho and Francesco Totti weren't at the ground that day.

well...let's be fair, spurs fans have not yet started invading the pitch to try and get at the away fans, like cardiff fans did against leeds (though you say an attempt was made after the arsenal game, which i was unaware of. maybe we have better security to thank). i have never been to a cardiff city game, but i did see that documentary a couple of years ago and i think what i saw there was worse than at spurs - projectiles do not get thrown at away fans at the lane (i know because i sit right near them) and the extreme levels of hostility looked worse. it was my understanding that cardiff fans continued to have the worst reputation in the league - and of course rick, you must bear in mind that as an arsenal fan what you see at WHL is absolutely as bad as it gets - i think violence and intimidation is more run of the mill at cardiff.

i have no reason to believe an arsenal fan would make it up..see also fever pitch, where nick hornby mentions "obscene and unforgiveable anti-semitic chanting" from arsenal fans.

Yes the Fans to our right, so behind the goal tried to get onto the pitch. With regard to missiles thrown at us, I kinda didn't even thik I needed to make that point!!! I take your point that we see it at it's worse. Fair comment. We have been deluged with coins from the lower tier behind the goal and the Upper Tier to our left (towards the dugout's) before now.

Well I sit in the Clock End, Row 2, seat 66. So I am 6 seats away from the away fans. I have never heard an anti-semetic comment like that at all. At the end of the day, it is well known we have thousands of Jewish fans as well. BUT - (and this wwill seem strange to those who don't attend matches, but not to those who do) I have heard plenty of comments with the words "Yid Scum" in them. Like for example the song about Campbell " Heeey. Hey Yiddo, Yid Scum, I wanna know where your captain's gone" Now some people would class this as anti-semetic, without knowing that the Tottenham Fans THEMSELVES call themselves the Yid Army. Also during matches to the sound of a drumbeat, they clap and then shout very loudly "Yid". Therefore Im sorry, but I have never beleived the anti-semetic stuff. Joe E, you know yourself that what I am saying is true and a lot of comments are just normal banter in response to what Tottenham Fans call themselves.

Why do you think Tottenham fans call themselves "Yids" ? It is the same reason black americans call themselves n-i-g-g-a-z, it is to reclaim the word and take away it's threat and menace.

Besides, the Jewish element at Tottenham is small, I would say there are as many Jewish Arsenal fans than there are at Spurs. Then again, the Jew don't feel comfortable at Arsenal as there seems to be a growing support and presence at the club from the Muslim community

oh absolutely. i call myself a yiddo, so do the vast majority of spurs fans. many of my spurs supporting friends are jewish and we are all proud of the strong jewish element in the club's support. however i think there's a difference between using it with pride and using it with contempt. see rambler's US rap analogy below.auschwitz, hitler, etc is a different matter. i've personally only heard it sung at elland road, but as i say if my friend who also has a clock end season ticket says he's heard it sung, i have to believe it. it was only the once admittedly. and of course, arsenal do have as many jewish fans as us, so it's ridiculous.

Crap. Utter Crap. Yid Army is the name of their/your 'firm' from the sixties and seventies you dope. Don't comment on something you know nothing about.

The Jewish element at both clubs is big. And again utter rubbish on saying they don't feel comftable. Where did you get that rubbish from? Let me guess, something like a tabloid article on how Bin Ladin is an Arsenal fan.

well, yeah it was the name of the firm, but regardless it was born out of defiance - spurs fans got this reputation as flashy, north london jews, my understanding is that spurs fans were insultingly called yids, so then started using it in a "no-one likes us we don't care" kind of way. nowadays the "yid army" chants are broader and refer to the fans as a whole, not just the hooligan element. i have to say it's really lost its jewish connotation a bit and most people just think of it as meaning "spurs fan" now - i wouldn't be surprised if some fans didn't even know its original meaning.
as to the uncomfortable jewish fans/rise in muslim support - i must say that's news to me as well!
