Well, I'll be taking a trip to Chicago in early Jan. I'm a mexican citizen and I'm interested in taking an admission essay or something there. I've already investigated prices and deadlines foo the UIC, which is the one that I could probably afford.
I've made my application online, but I still need a bank statement showing proof of sufficient funds in US dollars. My question is: Could I get the statement from a mexican bank showing the money quantity in dollars or do I need to have funds in a USA bank?
Can I take the SAT and ACT and get the result in less than a week? The deadline is Jan. 15.
Also, it says I need to submit a certified/attested copy of my high school diploma or certificate of high school completion, BUT I'm in my last semester of high school.
Any question you guys could answer ASAP would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I am an old guy. All my information might be outdated. So I tried my best.....
1) You will take the ACT or SAT now.... they will send the official score to the school afterward. The deadline is for you to hang in the application form. The admission will then wait until they send in the test score before making the decision.
2) The admission will look at your current grades. They can actually determine whether you are good enough based on your current grade. They will assume that your grades remain consistant in your last semester. Most schools will accept you before you graduate from HS on condition that you graduate at the end of the term. to make simple..... they accept you in march or April, but you must send in your certificate of high school completion after you finish. Again, it is not important for the January deadline for now.
3) Regarding the bank statement.... I do not know the answer. If you are still around, I can ask my friend who works at the international admission of a major university in the US. PM me if you read this.....

They may also make you take something called the 'TOEFL' or Test of English as a Foreign Language, which you apparently, should have no trouble doing well on.

A lot of these questions are standard and you should be able to get an easy answer for them by going through channels.
In case you haven't contacted the UIC Office of Admissions, here's their website:
http://www.uic.edu/depts/oar/home/
Note that they have a "Virtual Advisor" on the site. Unfortunately, even though I rummaged around the UIC site directory, I couldn't find a phone number. Best I could do was this:
Fax Number
(312) 996-2953 or (312) 413-7628
Here is the general statement of their international student admission requirements:
Admission is competitive and preference is given to those applicants judged to have the best potential for academic success at UIC. The minimum requirements for admission are:
1. Satisfaction of University minimum requirements in terms of age, high school graduation, high school units, SAT I: Reasoning Test or the American College Test (ACT), and grade point average and credits earned.
2. Satisfaction of minimum requirements of the college and curriculum of choice in terms of high school subjects and any additional requirements prescribed for admission.
3. Satisfaction of the University requirement of competence in English.
4. Adequate financial resources (for international applicants only).
5. Verification of immigrant status (for immigrant applicants only).
What UIC accepts as proof of numbers 4 and 5 might be specific to UIC, so you really ought to direct your question about these matters to an admissions advisor from the school.
Be aware that any college or University will want an official transcript sent to them directly from the school you're attending. They will not accept anything that's been handled by you. Get the guidance office (or your school's equivalent thereof) to send one to UIC, and of course it's best to do this AFTER you've initiated your admissions application via UIC's website, so they'll have a file prepared to receive things like your transcript and test scores.
Good luck with all this. Sorry if this duplicates information you already have.

I have been in aurora for a while and have searched universities like UIC, Aurora University, DePaul and others (I also took the TOEFL and did quite well :P; about the ACT, well, It didn't come out as good as expected by how I felt during the test, but I'll just wait for my results). I probably won't apply for this fall semester though, but I sure will for next year's in some of these unioversities.
Thanks to all of you for the info.
