Marsteller et.al. are circle-jerking amateurs.
It's time for SUM to take over the Nats.
I hope the players go to Swoosh, Philips, GM, MasterCard, all
the big name sponsors, and with SUM in tow, execute a coup d' etat
at Soccer House.
Just like the FMF deal for El Tri in the states, SUM needs a deal for
the Nats, period.
The Fed can keep the refs and the "administration and regulation"
of the "US Soccer Family".
I'll gladly give up Germany if it means bringing PROFESSIONAL
acumen and execution to the BUSINESS of USian International Football.
The bottom line is this.
Paul Marsteller has a problem with his TPS Reports.
And he didn't get the memo.

Yeah, give it to guys who are hell bent on making money rather than qualifying. Rose Bowl for the US vs. Mexico. Guatemala and Honduras in DC. I think we would see even bigger issues between the players and the "new management".

That makes sense. SUM is all about good labor relations, and the USSF is not. SUM is for profit and the USSF is not.

Soccer
United
Marketing = SUM
Like I said on an earlier post. Get rid of the people in the USSF and transfer them to NYC So MLS can run the USSF. Don Garber can run both US Soccer & MLS. He doesn't have to worry about the little things anymore. We have to fuse the two entities into one. It's the only way to help save the sport in the US.

Couple of things . . .
1) FIFA and the IOC would probably refuse to recognize a for-profit entity.
2) If I were part of an amateur or youth federation, the thought of being run by an entity that, while doing better, has lost somewhere in the neighborhood of a quarter billion dollars over the last decade is scary.
3) Soccer is larger than just the pros. Turning over the entire development and youth system to MLS just because you're unhappy with a contractual pissing match is fairly ludicrous.

SUM - Marketing Company
It is something that soccer team's hire to or contract with to promote their team.
It does not have any expertise or wherewithall to actually administer and run a team.
Not to mention the astonishing conflict of interest that entail if SUM took over running one of its clients.

it will be the first one in the world to combine national team and prof league activities.

SUM is a division of MLS and as we all know MLS is full of people WHO DONT KNOW A DAMN THING ABOUT FOOTBALL why would you want these people involved with US Soccer...
The problem here and always has been is that in US Soccer MLS and SUM and USL you have too many people that dont know any thing about our sport and are "learning" as they go along..
what we need is more people like Alan Rothenberg who love and know this sport and are good buisness men with in the sport....
what we dont need is a president to cater to the grass roots or ODP.. what we also need is that the vote of the grass roots and odp become votes that are worthless than the vote of the Pro leagues.... ODP and grass roots just are interested in how much money US Soccer gives them this has been proven again and again in the mag Soccer America.. maybe what would be best is no longer give the grass roots or ODP any more voting power and give it only to the pro leagues..
we need to find people that know and love this game and get them into the presidents seat.....

Looks like we've sorted out that this isn't going to happen. Thread closed.
