alright, im pretty new here, but i´ve noticed that many of you use a different set of boots to practice in, and then use a completely different pair for matches. for example, using an old beat up pair of copas for practice, then using some vapors for games. i´d have to say that that would be the most polar boot choice that i´ve seen. a relatively heavy leather boot, and a completely synthetic ultralight boot. to me, that doesn´t make any sense at all. why not use something that is similar in upper and outsole for both practice and match boots so as not to recieve a shock during the warm up before a match. wasted time on game day getting used to a pair of boots. if you use some pulses for games, why not use an older pair of manias or something along that line?
i´ve got two pairs of boots, azt II fg and some pulse sg, i love them both, but i practice in both of them, about equal time in each during the week for practice, and depending on the condition of the pitch game day im prepared and used to my boots.
but my question is, why? why have a separate pair of boots for practice and games? it doesn´t make sense to me.

I use a pair of not very expensive Umbro Owen 10 to wade through winter mud :) during practices and a pair of new adidas Gold Supernova 2 which are a way more expensive (definitely not as much as Vapors but still considering that I'm on a budget it's not a little money) I think others do this for the same reason.

i use a pair of gunmetal manias for practice and a pair of lunar manias for games..but i dont really think it matters if you use two totally different pairs of boots for practice and games they are just shoes the only difference is the looks unless you use vapors for practice and then total 90's for games

I agree. It seems silly to wear different boots. You should be used to the comforts and behaviors of one specific brand/model. My advice, but two pair of the same brand/model and use one pair for practice and one pair for games. The'll last longer that way.

I totally agree. If you are going to buy 2 pairs, buy 2 pairs of the same boot, this way come game time, you'll be famliar with the traits of the boot, and they won't feel foreign after days of training.

Darren, you and I have had a chat like this someplace else on these boards in the past.
I fully agree with Darren that if you are playing in one boot for practice then you should wear the same style boot for games as well. I have tried to do this over the years. When I was wearing AZT 90 2's I would train in my black and white ones and play matches in my white and red ones, I also got a sweet deal on the balck and sliver ones so I picked up two pair one for matches and one for training.
I also try to get shoes that have a full range such as the tiempo permiers(RIP 1992-2004) or the Copa line from adidas (I amusing those now) so when switching from SG,FG,HG/Turf,Flats that there is not much of a change in fit and feel of the boots.
The training and match boot situation also depends on how much you play and train. If you only play one semi competitive match a week and have a one or two kick abouts in between then there is not really a need to spend the money on two pairs of boots that you don't need. If you are playing on a team that trains often(college, high level club/ODP, semi-pro, pro) and plays at least one serious match a week then picking up some boots to train in is a good idea.
