Hi
First of all, the situation Im presenting happened legally in the portuguese Superliga, and I want to know if such things happen in other Leagues. Not only that, but I'm asking you to give your opinion on how ethical the situation is.
So here goes.
(name of teams/players doesn't matter, just think at any teams you want )
Team X's best striker, a brasilian player who scored 1/3rd of X's goals so far receives his 5th yellow card of the season and is therefor out of next match.
X's next scheduled match is against rival and also title contender Team Y.
Team X and Team Y go into this derby with the same number of points.
Team X decides to reschedule a cup match against a III rd division team so that they can clear their striker's punishment and therefor play him in the important derby against Team Y.
They pay 5000 Euros to the III rd division team so that they agree to this.
The FA doesn't oppose the move. It does apply a small fine to Team X but simply because the request for the match rescheduling should have been made 20 days before it is played, which it wasn't.
The match is rescheduled.
What do you think?
