Well, the last two games have been the reverse of what I thought would happen. So, I'm curious to see how well our Addicks play against the Gunners.

I would guess that Curbs will leave the lineup unchanged to start. But I would much rather sit Bartlett. He is missing chances that we have to convert. Could JJ stand alone at the top? [We really should go get Dean Ashton from Crewe during the window and before he gets too expensive.]

So, here's my lineup [I'm dreaming of course]:

Andersen
Young - El K - Fortune - HH
Holland - Kishishev - Murphy
Thomas - JJ - Konchesky

Subs: Kiely, Hughes, Rommedahl, Euell, Jeffers.

Thoughts? Can we take points from the Gunners on our own pitch?

Well, you can take Jeffers out as he is down from a minor operation for ingrown toenails.

I don't know why you would take out Romm. I might consider giving Thomas a rest and let Konch start but I wouldn't change the midfield right now. I thought Dennis has come on strong and with Thomas doing so well defenses have had to pay more attention to Jerome leaving Dennis a little more free to roam.

I would let Euell get the start as the lone striker. I don't think JJ is quite as good as Jason at posting up. Jason can hold up the ball and distribute well even when he's got defenders hanging all over him. He is a cross between Bartlett and JJ.

I did hear the commentary and Kiely did come off his line and take a corner out of midair so hopefully he's getting a little more aggressive. I also don't think Arsenal would be a good way to bring in Andersen for his first first team runout.

Depending how things go for Arsenal today, I'd say we've got a good shot at nicking a point from this one. Would be a big boost before going up to Blackburn who, at the moment, are beginning to play good football.

Certainly if you play for the draw you will loose - look at Portsmouth. However if your mob turn out for the win then there is no reason why a 2-0 win at home to Everton cant indicate enough ability to get at least a point again at home to Arsenal, expecially with the Derby factor.

But then we trounced you last time out - so I wouldnt hold your breath :D

Thanks for the update on Jeffers. And . . .

You're right. It should be Euell up top. But I will be shocked if Curbs actually puts Jason up there for a start. How can our manager continue to overlook his own player's strengths and how they could help the club? Then again, he may have no choice but to put Jason up top now that Bartlett is missing the easy ones and Jeffers is out. Lisbie isn't back yet and doesn't seem to be the right kind of player to put up top alone.

Whomever goes up top, he should take some notes from the Arsenal - Newcastle match. Ameobi gave the Gunners fits up front. Yes, Arsenal won the match, but the Magpies should have had a score in there somewhere. Bad luck for them. Good luck is with us right now.

Go Addicks!

true the gunners didn't look that inspired v newcastle, great opportunity for the addicks to take at least a point.

they played with them at highbury until the henry back heel, but it was all downhill from there. if they score a magical goal again, we need to keep our composure and play addicks football!
