At this point in time, absolute zero! I was fortunate enough this morning to listen to the Rotherham game for the 2nd half only, Rotherham???? a club that's played 26, won 2, and has a GD of -18, and we struggled against them.
Just imagine playing that sort of crap in the Prem!

Unless there's a substantial cash injection into the squad, and I don't mean fat pay increases to the players we have at present, and possibly a change of management, but next time, a Manager who has been successful in the top flight, I don't care if he comes from Madagasca!! sadly this club will be just another 2nd rate team in a 2nd rate division.

I agree with you Brian. It's starting to look that our only hope is the playoffs and even then only just. I still feel that we are a much better team against quality opposition but we have to get there first!

Do you feel that we will sell anyone? From all the rumours running about I hope that we don't lose Ethers, Reo or Harewood. If we lose Zamora for a million as thought, then Pardew could put that to good use. I still don't understand why Rebrov is not given more opportunity to play. He does have the pedigree. Also what's the story with Sofiane? Where's he been? If he can't cut it in this team then get rid of him too. I'd also like to see Noble and Cohen given more opportunities. Finally the others that I would cut loose (if possible) are Lomas, Hutch and even Dailly. Trouble is they would only go on a free as noone would want to pay transfer fees as well as their wages. We could do without the wage bill but hey management gave them contracts at the level they are on and we all know what we think of management!!!

I am personally looking forward to Daily returning. I think he is great in this division, as shown last year. He is a threat in the air in both attack and defense and really does fight for the cause. In our relegation season he made too many mistakes and would probably, again, be a liability in the Prem. but credit where it is due he was a high point of last year. I hope Pardew doesn't rush him back so he breaks down again, but lets face it we have no stability at the back. How many defenders have we used this year? We need a core unit (Repka, Powell, Milky, Daily) to play the majority of the rest of the games.
So in summation the defense's lack of co-ordination, I belive is our problem, we fix that soon and play from the back, we can go on an end of season charge and with a little luck we could all be watching WHUFC on TV next year. We always play better after Christmas anyway.
Stay positive and UP THE HAMMERS!!!!!!!!!

Stompers got it spot bloody on. Us older baskets will remember loosing 8-2 to Blackburn boxing day. Promotion its a sad story like relegation was. Brown needed to invest and didn,t, Brown needs to invest now, today, but won't. Pardew can only bring in if he sells or free,s. I think he is feeling that the likes of Noble and Cohen are not up to promotion pressure. Right or wrong i don,t know. We need Ashton, plus a central mid to Partner Reo Coker. Keep Malky fit and we may just have the hard basket we need. Dailly of course will be an option. Very very dissapointing results in all honesty is it the manager or players? I like Pardews directness but is he good enough to motivate the team. Promotion as we seem to be playing is about as likely as my misses saying, "lets go live in Scotland". The only positive in my life is the beer here is brilliant. Think i,ll start smoking.

up the hammers.

Happy new year all.

Yes,i remember that, the a few days later we went up to their house, eat their food shagged the missus shat on the carpet and walked away with the points.
Those were the days for giving you indesgestion after the slap up Christmas feed and the smoking of Hamlet cigars on the terraces.

We still have a good chance IF we can beat Ipswich and Sheff.Utd; but if we lose to them and other teams above us win, it's all over, in my opinion. These are 6-point games, and we MUST get something out of them. There are a lot of games left, tho', so there's always some hope. Happy New Year to all!

After this weekend's debacle, I put our chances at automatic promotion at nil.

We may ... may make the playoffs but does anyone really have any faith in us coming through that successfully?
