Good catches. Thanks.
Ben's comments comparing the 99 Championship to this one are interesting.

Good find and a nice read.
I didn't know Gros logged the most minutes of a rookie for United since '96. Or am I just reading that wrong?

I think it's a technicality.
He started 21 contests, becoming the first D.C. draft choice to log more than 2,000 minutes since the club's inception in 1996.
Several United rookies in the past have not been draft picks. Olsen, for example.

Ahhh, OK thanks for the clarification.

Great offseason articles, but to me, with the Patriot being my local paper, its a shame thats the most press they got all year.
The coverage of DCU, with 2 local players only 2 hrs away, is absolutely pitiful.
It would have been nice to see these articles somewhere around to the time they won the championship.
But oh well, the writer is a nice guy. He does a good job on the local soccer scene.

Marine Corps? Who knew? Glad he decided on soccer...

Um, the Marine Corps was the talk all last spring. The team nicknamed him Sarge as a result...although Ell-Tee would be more appropriate. The Barra/SE's would yell "you go Marine" to him during games...Other than that, I don't think anyone knew...

You forgot to mention the handful of Post articles about his Quantico experiences.
The team did a clinic in Columbia and a kid brought a camo printed ball. The guys asked Gros if he had to salute it. :)

Great off-season articles!
I agree. We should probably drop him a few lines and say we appreciate the coverage. Always good to show support.
