Well, I've discovered, again, some of the dangers of the break in the soccer season. I was chatting today, at work, with Roberto, a Salvadoran guard. And we were talking about futbol, of course, and DC United. And we chatted about how Eskie rocks. Of course, this is more or less the same conversation I had three times last week. And the week before that. And it is going to keep on happening, ad nauseum, until the season starts back up again. Or at least until we get some juicy gossip like David Beckham is coming to play for DC United (though I don't think he's quite as good as Eskie or Moreno). Grrrrr.

My Saturdays still suck, too.

Well, yeah.

However, the ANTICIPATION is great. My wife and I get to make a lot of decisions over the break, including:

1) Which supporters group to join
2) A full season plan, or just 9 games
3) 42" DLP TV and leather chairs, or 61" DLP and Ikea chairs

Any suggestions?

Attending the offseason Happy Hours, plunking in the tapes of MLS Cup 04 or the 6-2 Metro ass whoopin' always seem to help. And in answer to your questions...

1. Barra Brava
2. Full Season Tickets
3. 61" and leather BarcoLoungers :D

Any suggestions?Easy.

1) All of them. Lots of parties, lots of friends, lots of places to visit in the stadium

2) Full season. This is non-negotiable.

3) 61" DLP and leather chairs. If you want to nerd out, get real leather theater-style seating ($$$) or look at La-Z-Boy etc. for leather recliners.

Tivo, yep thats what I wanted for Christmas but alas I have Crapcast as my cable supplier so I have no need for Tivo with the selection of sports channels I have at the ready.

As for the questions posed above:

1) not sure as I'm not a member of any of them yet
2) Full season if you can afford it
3) 61" DLP and who cares what chair you have with that big of a TV :D

Decisions, Decisions

1 Any supporters group is good. Of course you and your wife have to increase the average noise per fan (be louder than the average RFK fan)

2 A full season plan. (whether you can afford it or not). By the look of my clothes you'd assume i can't afford a full season plan. I just know what's more important.

3 TV sizes and chairs? This is where you can allow affordability and space to affect your decision. The same rules apply at home as at RFK, you must make plenty of noise.

Well, i bought the 50 inch DLP (Samsung) and a nice comfy leather couch (from Belfort in Virginia). the separate leather chairs drive up the price! :)

Y'all still haven't explained to me what to talk about? I have a few restricted relationships with people that revolve around soccer. Most of these people are not Israeli, so I can't discuss the horrible season Hapoel Tel Aviv is having, which restricts me to DC United. However since there isn't currently a DC United conversation, we just talk about last season. And the early years. And the middle years. And I have absolutely nothing to talk about anymore. Maybe I should just ignore these people until next March/April?

--kravi

P.S. 1. Any group you please. 2. Full season. I mean, really! 3. Go for the 61' and sit on the floor. You'll upgrade your seating arrangement later. That's easier to do than replacing a smaller tv.

Why don't you compromise and get the IKEA chairs in leather?

And I have absolutely nothing to talk about anymore.

Having something to talk about shouldn't determine whether you talk. Being on BigSoccer must of taught you that. I've talked over & over with one friend how DC United's defense will be without Nelson and the condition of the field at RFK with baseball sharing it. We have these discussions without a scrap of information between us. So speak about anything DC United over and over at least until training camp.

I talk South American qualifying with the Peruvian shuttlebus driver and i have absolutely no infomation.

1) Barra Brava!
2) Full plan, duh ;)
3) Either DLP would be good. My Grandad picked one up at Circuit City, apparently they have excellent deals there on DLPs, he got his hugeass one for under 2 grand.

How deep is the room you will be watching the TV?

I nearly bought a 52" DLP, but decided to downsize to a 46", because the 52" was giving me a headache from the range I would have been watching it.

1. The SEs (I'm MUCH cuter than Oscar or Sachin! ;)
2. Full season in the Nest (members are getting a better deal over non members in '05, stay tuned for SE ticket announcement)
3. I got nothing on your home theater, I watch with other DC folks at area bars

You and the missus can also be thinking about taking a roadtrip in the near future (Mexico City or LA for the season opener, details also coming VERY soon).
