no, it's just that the poor are defenseless from such disasters. when the sout-eastern states were hit with flooding due to 4 different hurricanes this summer, there was plenty of damage but relatively little life lost. nature does not love nor hate. the rich however...

What about Tornados in america, earthquakes and Tsunamis in Japan, volcanic-eruptions in Sicily etc. etc.

I think that natural disasters are a way that nature reduces overpopulation, it happens to other species and it seems to be happening to us too, naturally, the poor are most vulnerable, like the sick and weak animals that go first in nature...

Back in the day, war reduced overpopulation also. Just look at WWI for any side. Carnage everywhere, Eastern and Western Front.

I doubt that nature deliberately wipes out weak populations. If you were the one clinging on to your life with water rushing up underneath you, you might not be so philosophical in justifying such a disaster.

I'm not trying to justify anything, just trying to look at this tragedy in a logical way, something hard to do if you are in the middle of it, coming from a poor country, I can only feel for the people that have lost everything, including their lives...

The reason poor countries are hurt worst by natural disasters is because most poor countries, and the bulk of the population of these countries, are located on oceans and thus more susceptible to natural disasters.

It's not philosophical its called survival of the fittest.
