Who's currently the best defender in Argentina?
You can vote for more than one. I chose Ayala and Samuel. If you choose "Other" please tell who you're thinking of.

In the beginning of the year i would have answered Samuel, but since he started to play with Real Madrid i see him slower and his soccer skills are droping everyday
My vote goes for coloccini...he just needs more minutes on his team

In terms of just defensive skills I'd say Ayala. If we include all defenders, and base it on their overall game, including their contributions to the attack, probably Javier Zanetti. But I voted for Ayala.

Zanetti is a superman. :) I didn't include him in this poll because I was focusing on centre backs. All these guys can be played as centre halfs even if for instance Heinze also often is being used as a left back.

Good thing you cleared that up,that its about mainly center backs cause I wouldve also have picked Zanetti.
So in that case my picks are:
1.Ayala
2.Gaby Milito
3.F.Coloccini
Would love to see the defense

I voted for Ayala because at times coloccini can be clumbsy!

Gotta love Ar Gen tina. Heinze is an animal but the best bit is: he is always smilling, he must love a ruck. LOL

Our best back 4..
Zanetti, Ayala, Samuel, Heinze

I voted "other" for Zanetti before seeing your note. I think he's a lot better as a defender than a midfielder these days.
Our best back 4..
Zanetti, Ayala, Samuel, Heinze
If Samuel plays up to his old form, that's possibly the best back line in the world - club or country.

It wouldn't be better than Milan's backline (or Chelsea's for that matter), but its a very good one.
That being said, Samuel has always been overrated. He's a very dirty defender but his lack of skill has been exposed. Its clearly Ayala.
