So, we have an exceptional prospect, who was brought along on a superlative team with a sublime manager, loaned out to a second-tier EPL Club, to refine his game and get some experience.
Intense stuff, Johnny. We'll be watching.
I'm curious if there is a hierarchy for deciding ability of a club player for what his contribution can be to a national club (US version)
1. Starting first-tier European club
2. Starting second-tier European club
3. Starting MLS club
4. European club reserve side (U-20 team)
Spector was at the #4 level, but has jumped to #2. If we can assume that the best natural progression for a US national player would be to have been brought up at a Top European club and the moved to their starting ranks, Spector can take his place next to Keller and O'Brien on that short list.

And Landon, I suppose, would be a 4, 3, 1 movement, assuming he breaks into the starting lineup.

This probably deserves its own thread.
I would say that Spector was in between #4 & #1.
ManUtd is not your typical 1st tier Euro side (CL participants from England, Germany, Spain, France, Portugal, Holland, plus a few stray clubs).
They are a massive club in that they have so many legitimate 1st team players. IOW, it is much harder to break into the 1st team at United than it is at clubs like PSV, Ajax, etc.
That's not to say that those clubs don't play as well as United...it's just that if the left back on one of those clubs goes down a talent like Spector is gonna get some action. At United, if Heinze goes down, SAF has several full internationals with tons of club experience to select from before he ever has to think of using Spector.
Perhaps you should add a category and make this the new #1...Starting at Real Madrid, ManUtd, Chelsea, Arsenal, Milan, Juventus, Munich, etc.

Spector is a great young prospect, easily above a #4 on these rankings, and not quite yet a #1, allthough he will be soon. HE is probably equivelant to a higher #3, he would easily start in the MLS but is going to have to keep making huge strides to become a common started on a first teir european club.
