Chilenos?

Hola. Yo soy norteamericano y voy a Chile y Argentina en el veinteseis de diciembre.

Perdon para mi espanol mal. Anyways I'll be going for a couple weeks with my girlfriend. I know Chile is a country that are friendly to Americans not named George W Bush and all. I'll be in Santiago for a few days but will be going to my girlfriend's hometown Talca further south and I believe we'll also be around Valparaiso. We'll be going to Barriloche (sp?) when we go to Argentina.

Any places that you guys would suggest as far as food or sights? Any suggestions period? Obviously I'm going with someone who is a little familiar with the country but I'd like to know what you guys think.

Valparaiso is full of great sights. Take the open elevators, go on a boat ("lancha" ). Tour the hills (cerros), go to Neruda's house (right by mine). Go to el Paseo Atkinson. go watch Stgo. Wanderers play! :)

is it true that they have the cleanest river bed, going thru the city?

at least the clearest water in the continent? for a river in the mid of a city....
