Not sure why but I am having the same attitude towards the new El Sal guy. Must be my old age.
I'm all about giving the Q squared the benefit of the doubt. I'm having a hard time getting behind gazza the same way. Here's hoping it works out.

I see what you are saying. My take on Gazza, if he does not cause us to cut a decent young player, then how bad can he be. Hell, we have played Lazo and McKinley at the same time some games. :(

Yeah...if he doesn't cost us anyone and sucks it up like Lazo the crapo then at least I can make alcoholic jokes
Speaking of lazo el sucko, how does he have a wallpaper up at dcunited.com but Jaime doesn't?

In the Luisa sage, as opposed to getting a good player who wants to be there and will try??
DC got Jaime Moreno in what 96. Since then, NO ONE until Reyes this year. Give me the list of the other deals done for DC.

This reminds me of a Pocky commercial. (Pocky is a Japanese snackfood...cracker sticks dipped in chocolate.) Man and a woman are in a office. The man is making some copies and the woman is waiting for her turn. While his stuff is being copied, the man nibbles on some Pocky. When his stuff is done copying, the man puts the Pocky on a shelf above the copier, grabs his papers and leaves. Well, the woman decides she wants some Pocky, but the shelf is too high for her to reach. So to get to it she has to climb on top of the copier. Then the man remembers that he left something and goes back. Meanwhile, the woman inadvertantly turns the copier on. The man returns to see her kneeling on the copier, appearing to make photocopies of upskirt panty shots of herself.
I've never seen a commercial for pocky, but that sounds great. I love the stuff.

We don't seem to get much dodgy signings lately. We mostly had to trade off all our players.
Our last dodgy signing was Chris Albright (who insisted he would only play for DC). Look where that got us. That was probably the beginning of the end.
The thing is, I think they're trying to sign Gazza for peanuts. Either that or it's just all a publicity stunt.

And Albright actually ended up being a trade for Roy Lassitter (though we did get to keep Roy until after we won MLS Cup!!!) And I do believe that Lassitter has actually scored some golas in MLS.

They completely fail to realize that every aging European ex-star that's come over here has failed (Stoichkov, Zenga, Matthaeus) and that Gascoigne would be no different.
Besides, even when both were at their peak, Gascoigne wasn't half the player Stoichkov was. And this is coming from a Real Madrid fan.

It's not so much Gazza as the fact that we're signing an old player at a position we don't need players at. If we lose someone worthwhile, I will set myself ablaze.
Or perhaps something less extreme.

Jason:
As you can see, UConn plays Maryland October 12th at the Joe Morrone Soccer Stadium in Storrs. There will be time for smack talk later, but if you wish to attend the match, you are more than welcome to crash on my couch, eat my food, and watch your Terps lose. You may not want to stand next to me at the match, for I am the most evil SOB you've ever met at a match. But the offer is there.
I will consider it.
Actually, I might end up joining you if you want to yell at Cirovski. What a jackass.

Good news: I finally got my signed US National Team jersey back from the frame shop and it is BADASS! I've got the signature of EVERY US player on the WC roster, as well as Bruce Arena and Chris Armas. Plus I've got my three ticket stubs from the US first round games, with pictures of each stadium. Needless to say, it's the coolest thing in the world...thereby making me the coolest guy in the world. I'll try to get a picture up sometime.
That sounds ************ing mighty. An excellent idea.
Plus the Turkish dude that sits in the office behind my cube is an absolute FREAK. I'll spare you the details, but the chances of me randomly walking up to him and pummeling him are very good right now.
Anyone remember Viva Variety!'s "Try to be nice to the Turks" skit?
"I'd love to go out with you but...you're Turkish"
"I like you, even though you're Turkish."

I'm actually excited about him. He's young and scores goals. In other words, he's the kind of player MLS needs to pursue, as opposed to old wifebeaters.

Drugs are cheap and plentiful in DC.

No one's going to score 3 goals. Andrulis, the scared little girl in a fat bearded man's body, will bunker after 30 minutes. We, meanwhile, have gone to a 451 from the outset. Should be a joy to watch.
I'm predicting a 1-1 or 0-0 draw, and possibly the ugliest game of the season.

All the time?
When was our last great shady signing? Chris Albright doesn't count because he was a punishment rather than a blessing.

Indeed.
Moreno and Reyes were both players we found and went after. That's not dodgy. Dodgy is Olsen and Albright refusing to play anywhere else. Dodgy is Mathis ending up in NY.

I still remember his celebration...cupping his hand to his ear, signalling that he couldn't hear the Miami fans.
And of course he couldn't. They were all stunned that he actually managed a goal.
-Working.
-Tired.
-Hungry.
-My parents ended up not going to Nicola's in Rehoboth, even though I went out of my way to tell them to go there. Instead, they ended up at Cracker Barrel...not like they haven't eaten there 10 times before. Jerks.
-I nearly was hit by an 18 wheeler today. I was going about 80, and the truck just decided to pass the guy in his lane right when I was about 6 feet from the end of his truck. Luckily, no one was in the left lane and I didn't die.
-After the past 2 days, road rage is starting to make sense. Someone may catch a Mag Lite beating today.

bliss squared is that with tomato and lettuce, neither of which are in the fridge, unfortunatley.

and oh yeah, jason... im being moderatley optimistic/psychotic by thinking that we will score three. god knows that we have a HELL of a lot of offensive talent, its just, we have andrulis, who thinks that posession doesnt win matches, so we should let the other team have as much as they want...
i need to think up a sign relating to that, and the fact that he is a stupid ********...
and my god, if he still refuses to play garcia, i am going to have an anurysm (yeah i know, i cant spell it)

You really do. A lineup like so:
---------- Busch
Leitch Dunseth Torres Denton
West Maisonneuve Perez Garcia
------- McBride Cunningham
would be pretty potent, though weak in the back. Harkes would start if Garcia turned out to be crap. Dante Washington off the bench would be much better than Rocket Roy Lassiter.
