...to replace Pardew according to the back page of the Mail (haven't found a link tho'). Must admit he's not someone I've even considered should Pards gets the tin tack, wouldn't have thought he'd touch us with a bargepole, interesting nonetheless...

GET GORDON - PARDEW ON THE RACK AS WEST HAM GO FOR STRACHAN

West Ham have identified Gordon Strachan as the man to replace Alan Pardew and lead them back to the Premiership.
The Upton Park club have lost fiath in Pardew but will only sack him if they are convinced they can persuade Strachan to end his 10 month soccer exile.
The former Southampton boss must decide if the task of taking the east London club back up can be achieved with the financial restrictions he would face.

Thanks T, that's certainly interesting but I'd be (pleasantly) surprised if it happened.

He'd want a decent wage as well as money to spend, plus we'd have to pay Pardew to leave.

The problem for Brown is not whether we can afford to do that, it's whether we can afford NOT to.

I supported Pardew for a long time, I still believe that he's built a fantastic squad with the resources (or rather lack of them) at his disposal. The trouble is he doesn't seem to be able to make it work so it's all in vein. There's no point in owning a good looking sports car if you don't know how to drive.

I just can't see Strachan coming in somehow Rob, I too have been right behind Pardew and am still not convinced that there's anyone else out there who'd be able to turn our fortunes around - or who'd even want to give it a go - given our current situation with Brown and his cronies still in charge. If Pardew's time really is up then it's essential that we don't settle for second (third, fourth etc) best in appointing his replacement. I know it's pointless us continuously harking back to what might have been if Curbishley (or Dowie) had been brought in instead of Roeder, but you'd hope that lessons have been learnt.

Pardew seems like a nice enough fellow, but nice doesn't cut it. I've said before that, in most cases, if you hire a second division manager that's where you'll stay. While i disagreed with the decision to hire him in the first place, I always wanted to give him a chance, but IMHO failure to have us in a clear automatic promotion spot by Christmas is a failure. Truth be told, we ought to be way out in front of this division. I'd be for Strachan to come in (if he would). Merry Christmas to all.

Has anyone written to Steve Morgan and told him that we are for sale? We could then make a double switch before the january sales.

Hey guys, rules of the site don't allow posting complete articles, we are supposed to just type the link and a paragraph or two.

Theresa, can you post the link and I'll fix your post so the powers don't get all in a huff.

Thanks,

Bring in Gordo!

Probably a good thing you made this mistake T for the sake of us other posters who weren't aware of that either!! :o

You should all probably be well aware of my opinion on Strachers...but here it is anyway.

I like him, always have. A no nonsense manager from the school of hard ex-Scottish internationals who were quality players in their day and have carried a vault of technical footballing knowledge into the managerial careers.

Remember we were promised this with AP, a no nonsense chap who will whip things into shape. Not quite a Gordon Strachan though is he?

A spade is a spade with Strachan but I am not sure how this would fit in at West Ham. Is Brown likely to go for a manager like this? That's after you consider all the other obstacles like agreeing a salary for Strachers, paying off AP and releasing the money for Strachers to spend on players.

Knowing how Brown's mind works I think he is more likely to stick with what he has for now. Better the devil you know and all that.

Besides it's all just newspaper speculation at the moment. Isn't it...?

One last thought. At least with Strachan we would know we have a manager who can cut it in the PL. The PL is unknown territory to AP.

If Brown has the nads to hire Gordo, then he's going to have to loosen the purse strings to bring in a bit more talent. I am sure Brown knows that he has to get up this year or he's in financial trouble. So get Gordo, and Brown OUT!

1. I don't think he'd come
2. I don't think we'd get rid of AP
3. I'm not sure he's any better
4. The only real improvement he'd make would be the after match comments would make amusing reading.
5. If T lifted the post from WHO, how the hell does anyone know if she posted the whole article from the 'Mail' ???????

We didn't know about the lift from WHO till she told us. Just being safe.

I still love the famed Gordo "Velocity" line.

This is what I thought too. Why the hell did we not sign Dowie?

The rumour mill suggests that Sullivan, co-owner of Birmingham City, wants to sell that shit club and invest in one closer to his home in London. The word is that its Spurs (for which all us Spurs fans are screaming "NO!"), or West Ham. Looking at what he's done for crappy old Brum, I'd say he'd be perfect for you lot. In fact, he used to own a chunk of the Hammers, but wasn't taken seriously because he was a seller of smut. The only thing putting him off is the debt.

As for Strachan, give me a break! What exactly has this guy ever done, except get relegated with Coventry and reach a Cup Final with crappy Southampton? Because of the number of ex-Hammers at spurs, and ex-Spurs at Hammerland, i have a soft spot for you lot. What about Martin Allen?
