Hey guys, Adidas have for decades offered a low-thrills high-end pro-shoe in the World Cup/Copa Mundial, thats appeal seems timeless due to the reliabilty, durability and any other ability u wanna put as a superlative. With little in aesthetic changes, the cleats can still be seen in most-every soccer game played by professionals anywhere in the world.

So do u think that with the re-release of the 90's air legend (http://www.soccer.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Merchant_Id=1&Section_Id=1016&pcount=&Product_Id=157887), Nike have produced a shoe that can fulfill a similar role in the market?

Probably not. The Copa was an absolutely astounding shoe for its time. So great, in fact, people still use it today. So, theres gotta be something good about it.

The Legends will sell very well. Many Nike sponsers will wear them. MANY. We'll see it everywhere. But as far as the comparison to Copas...I think there is no way.

what are the differences between the copa and the legend? if these arent that big i think there is a possible change for the legend to become as famous as the copa.

similarity > upper materials ie. K-leather

differences
> Last, Copa - pretty flat vs Legend - contoured/anatomic
> Insole, Copa - fixed/glued to the flat board vs Legend - removable & contoured
> Tech features, Copa - just a classic, full K-leder & very comfortable altho' the last is rather narrow vs. Legend - nike air zoom for superb cushioning plus the mesh tongue for ventilation
>Outsole, Copa - PU 2-density with direct injection molding, very flexible (you can fold the toe to touch the heel) vs Legend - glued to the upper, probably PU + Pebax materials

Copa is the only Germany-manufactured boots sold in the whole world today!

Not too sure abt the Legend, could be Italy or Far East Asia

Copa has almost ZERO break-in period, if I may say, but may be not too comfy for wide feet players. The gloove-like snug fit is simply second to none.
One thing I wish will not happen is that the 3 white stripes can be overlaid by black shoe wax/polish & the creamish outsole turns yellowish & brownish overtime, and lastly it get a little heavy if used in heavy pitches.

You can easily pull out the Copa insole & replaced it with a removable contoured cushioned insole to improve the shock-absorption features. And to avoid overlay on the famous 3-whites stripes, use clear shoe wax at the instep/outsteps/quarters & black for forefoot & heel, then it stays white longer.

For many pros, the Copa outsole are also easily convert into a mixed sole plate ie. the 2 studs at the rear and 4 at the forefoot are shaved off & replaced with exchangeable aluminium studs.

I suppose many will do that to the Legends as well!

Personally, I'd love to try out the Legends, I think it's the best design since the Nike Tiempo Premier 5 FG.

Cheers!

Well to be honest it won't become Nike's Copa. The Copa has like a 20 year head-start. It doesn't do anything that the Copa doesn't do which means I can't see people switching to it and finally Nike already have a 'classic' boot in the Tiempo.

technically the legend is a better boot with the air zoom unit etc. but it wont match the copas durability and it will never become a classic- it should do well in the near future but nike will end up discontinuing it like with the tiempo :)

I would like to see the legend become...umm well.. a legend, however I wanted the tiempo premiers to be the nike copas, as well, and I don't think nike cares about having a boot like the Adidas copa, or the Puma king. Since they don't have anything like that, they will just concentrate on pumping out new lines of boots every 6 months, IMO. I was never a fan of Nike FG shoes, to begin with, however I want to try the legends.

I dont think they can be the Copa of Nike. People will continue to buy the Copa as it has been around longer and theyre used to it already. And most people who go with Nike tend to buy the latest models and not a model that they liked before.

this question can be answered after 20 years...

however, everybody can estimate what's the answer now.

yeah, in fact if you do a search here you'll see a thread I started on them when I bought mine.
Shoebacca has been selling "salesman samples" on Ebay for 3 months now.
Got mine for $45 USD, but now they go for $75 or more.
Still cheaper than the $125 retail.

i got a question for you jammybastard- i wear a size 10 and i'm a bit upset that all samples are 9's. u think i'd be able to shove my foot in a k-leather size 9?(like the legend)

It will stretch and will probably fit fine after a while. But it will make the leather thinner and possibly less durable.

Personally I wouldn't do it.
I'm a 9.5, and they fit me perfect, but that's a glove fit, nice and tight.
You'd kill yourself trying to stuff a 10 foot in there despite the fact that they are very comfortable shoes.
