They are going to recall him for next season.
But sure, why not?
I am sure he will have some competition for it. Who else??? That is going to be hard to determine right now as I can see Bayern losing a few players from the backline at the end of the season.

Hoeneß considers him as an important part of the first squad, that's why he didn't want to buy a left back this season, although this position is Bayerns weak point.

This is a good observation. True Brazzo is a "band-aid" for now, with Rau in the wings as his tentative replacement. Ultimately, both are outside midfielders.

Lahm is the only "for sure" signing that will take place this summer. Rummenigge's interview on FCBAYERN.de says that the squad could lose four players and still remain successful. You have to figure that Guerrero and Lahm are in that 22. We have all speculated about the remaining players as to who will stay and who will go.

With Lahm's addition, I see us having youngsters Lahm, Gorlitz, Rau as candidates along with Salihamidzic, Demichelis, Lucio, and Sagnol. I think the fate of Kovac, Kuffour, and Linke are still to be determined. BMGUY has some good posts concerning the latest rumours in another post.

Anything on Rau leaving or staying?

Hard to say, but from what i've read on fcbayern (can't find it now but there's a similar news at http://www.maltasport.com/International_Football/German/#), he seems want to stay in Bayern to fight for the regular spot.

However in a rumor that i think not true from http://www.soccerpulse.com/index.php?p=story&id=160 , Nuremberg are likely to sign him next season.

Personally, i'd like to loan him out instead of selling him as i think if he's given more practice matches, he will improve to the level that he used to show in the very first games when he just came to Munich.

Surely Bayern's offense does not need any more strength in the air. With Ballack, Makaay, and Pizzaro all excelling in the air Morientes would be a waste. Bayern should put a full court press on Totti. He has said that he wants to leave Roma and I would love to see his creativity as our attacking midfielder. Just think how great we would be going forward with Totti, Makaay, Pizza, and Ballack all bagging goals.

To be quite honest i don't think Totti would want to come to Germany. He has said that the only club he wants to play for if he leaves Roma is Real Madrid. Also would Bayern be able to offer 25-30 million which is how much i think he would cost.

Come on Bayern is one of the 5 richest clubs in europe, so money isn't a big problem.

And we have a lot of italians in germany so he would feel like at home. :)

We have Deisler, we don't need Totti. Besides, I really, really, really hate him...

yes, Bayern won't need him. Bayern always use their money wisely and deliberately. 20-22 mil USD is the highest amount of money that i think Bayern accept if they want to buy a hight rated star.

I reckon Totti, Tevez all won't come to Munich, but how about Rosicky or D'Alesandro, Petrov ?? They're a nice complement to the current squad but much cheaper.

I rate Totti at a much higher level than Deisler, Rosicky, or D'Alesandro. He may be expensive, but would be worth it. I would truly have liked Deco to come to Munich this summer, however that never came to be.

Petrov would be a good buy, because he would be cheap (relatively). The problem with him is that one good season does not mean he will be consistently good for Bayern.

If Bayern were to buy Petrov that would not fill the need for a player to play behind the front two. ATM I can't think of anyone better to do this than Totti or Tevez but they will never come to Bayern.

yes, we can forget about Totti, Deco or tevez, they all never come to Munich.( at least in the next 2 seasons)

hey, how about Berbetov from Leverkusen in case we let santa cruz leave. I like him a lot, a very good striker, maybe one of the best in Europe now.

Keith's Response: From what I was told by a friend who's "active" at the club, Bayern bought Hashemian because of his work ethic and willingness to set up his teammates.

However, they've found that he truly isn't as good as he looked last season in Bochum.

At least they are selling shirts in Tehran again.......

Keith's Response: The stupid a$$es running my club into the ground in Dortmund just might be stupid enough to sell Rosicky to Bayern, but I think Rosicky is headed for Liverpool or Madrid (For grooming to succeed Zidane) after the season. Wolfsburg WILL NOT sell D'Alessandro to Bayern. Unlike Dortmund, Wolfsburg doesn't need Bayern's money.

I agree that Totti will never join Bayern. Should he ever leave Roma, which I don't believe he ever will, I can only imagine three destinations "big enough" for him. Real Madrid, Barcelona or Manchester United.

Bayern are without a doubt, THE GIANTS in Germany, but when it comes to "European Giants" status, they are still behind the three clubs I mentioned along with AC Milan and Juventus Turin.

Keith's Response: You can bet that Kovac, Kuffour and Linke are all history. Blackburn are said to be interested in Linke, but I think Linke will either return to Schalke 04 or retire. Kuffour will more than likely wind up in Italy or Spain and I think Kovac will wind up either back at Bayer Leverkusen or at Borussia Dortmund on a free transfer.

God, I love transfer speculation! LOL!!!

Well, at least Stuttgart can look into the future this way.

But too bad that he won*t be fit to play against Argentina.
